#Blockhit Confirmation Sound

Some servers already have this feature (like Scrims Network) but it doesn't always play the sounds correctly. A client-side version of this might be more accurate, consistent, and wouldn't give an advantage that I'd consider unfair. It helps for players on low and high ping find how to correctly time their blockhits and generally improves the pvp experience for all 1.8.9 1.7.10 players. Please consider adding!

It just plays the sound if it detects you took less damage as a result of blocking your sword

Lunar will find a way if Scrims did
the sound could just play when the damage registers and it would be just as effective as on scrims
yeah this sounds really cool, there could be an option to show text confirming or change the color of the sword momentarily also

the way I understand it is that the player would block the hit, if it IS blocked serverside then the server would communicate that and the player would recieve less damage. I'm definitely not an expert so this could be wrong but I don't think it would be an issue to code.

Just going off what ive been told about blockhits being server sided
On the Scrims server I get 230ms and their blockhit sounds still work decent for me, I'm sure ping wouldn't be a problem for client-side

the way minecraft works is your client sends packets to the server and the server sends packets back

if you were to receive the blockhit confirmation sound it would be like 150ms late

It would probably be possible to get rid of that but it sounds difficult
then it would be pointless and not work cos it gives incorrect information

and on top of that a lot of servers have some things that mess with their hit reg and blockhits
unless ur ping is 500ms+ it gives accurate info
cus ull know ur blocked hit was from the last time u got hit
since u can only get hit once every 500ms

just more of a logic kind of thing more than focusing on mechanics

im not an expert on this so theres a high chance im not right but I think u would send a block packet to the server and the server would confirm that the block actually blocked the hit
