- It gives you a code
- Go to the website and put the code
- It will send a code and you should put this code in the launcher
Go to the website and click "confirm"- And if you didn't put the code in the launcher it won't work when you press "confirm"

The code that gives you access to change account security details, is a code from microsoft, that you request, and it says in your email, that it's a security code.
When linking your account, the code you're going to use is given by the application you're trying to link your account with.
An example is modrinth. If you have ever used Modrinth, they way they make you login to your account, is exactly the same thing as I'm talking about.
Also, in this case, a code is not even needed. Just like when you try to link your account to Discord, a page appears and asks you to give the application mentioned specific permissions it asks for (which again is something that Modrinth does to log you in), you can clearly see the access you're going to give, and that will be safe to do.
Overall, there are no issues with the way you link your account, it can be done safely.
