Improved onboarding experience for new users

The first time you launch Lunar Client, there are too many mods enabled by default that people often don't want or need. This can have an deteriorating impact on their overall experience if they find the client too bloated, or slower than their expectations.

So I suggest an onboarding experience helping you pick a preset that suits you best. You could choose a minimal preset that includes staple mods such as Animations, Chat, NameTags and Scoreboard. This would provide a vanilla experience with an added FPS boost. You could choose a preset that caters to broad PvP, including mods such as Potion Effects and Armour Status. Each game genre would have its own preset that you can choose depending on what you like to play.

Next, you could choose from a range of recommendations based your chosen preset. PvP enthusiasts could be recommended mods applicable to certain sub-genres of PvP such as PotPvP, UHC, Bedwars. On top of this, you could choose optional extras such as Shiny Pots, Motion Blur or Hurt Cam depending on what you like (this is not genre specific). Each mod would have a description and an (animated) demo to help you decide whether to include it in your profile.

Lunar Client already has presets for UHC, Skyblock and Arena PvP baked into the settings. However it's better to introduce these from the get-go. This would show the mass customisability options of Lunar Client right away, instead of burying it inside the game.

This is how I envision the onboarding journey, however there is so much room for improvement. For example, it could guide you to further customise your profile using the settings button, allow you to choose the default mod colours, encourage you to link with Discord, or suggest servers you might like. The onboarding could be integrated into the launcher while you wait for the game to start. There could even be discoverable presets curated by popular servers and players.
