TL;DR some kind of server <> client mod system that downloads packages from the server to the client to modify the game or a scripting engine that allows server owners to make experiences that weren’t previously possible, you could become not only the client for pvp but the defacto way to play anything but vanilla survival minecraft if you did this.
I’ll keep it concise. 1.8 combat is dying and 1.20 in its current form isn’t everyone’s jam. I would love to have legacy combat implemented into latest in a way that doesn’t compromise or feel clunky but I’m aware that would take time and money to do, so I think this solution would allow me to achieve my goals, without it being something that isn’t worth the time for you guys. I’ve wanted to make a client that does this for 2 and a half years now but don’t have the capital to do so.
if server owners had more control over the client of their end user they could make so many new and innovative experiences for their players. It could be a modding api where the server is allowed to modify aspects of the game (within reason for security purposes) using packages, or it could be a scripting engine like Garry’s mod, but this feature is sorely missed in this game, and something hytale is bringing.
I would use this not only for reverting the combat to 1.8 on latest but to imagine and design custom games personally, but who’s to say someone else couldn’t do something entirely different with this feature and make the best 1.20 server with its respective native combat ever. Or even cool stuff outside of the pvp genre lunar got popular in. Minecraft as a whole got popular because of the community creativity and freedom sandbox games have. I know you guys are trying to push for a more mainstream adoption of lunar client when I see features like the ability to join your friends lan world.
This is how you could do it, you could revolutionize the game and bring it back to how it was in 2011-2015 where there was endless creativity and potential. If you did this properly you would replace the reason to use not only forge and fabric, but any other client as well because if you give the community the tools to build something great, and they use them, who’s gonna use any other client when all the servers that make the best experiences for their players require lunar?
