Add a separate bind for toggling sprint.
e.g. using CTRL for hold sprint, G for toggling sprint on and off
If they want the hold sprint and toggle sprint bind to be the same, just set the keybinds to be the same
e.g. CTRL for both hold and toggle sprint, acting how it does currently
