Some suggestions for the Cooking Add‑On.

  1. Reputation‑Based Guest Progression (Expanded)
    At the beginning, placing a flag should attract only a small number of villagers as guests. As players receive positive ratings from villagers, their reputation should increase — but this progression shouldn’t happen too quickly. Players should have to put in some effort and “grind” a bit before reaching higher reputation tiers.
    This would create a more rewarding sense of growth, especially for early‑game restaurants.

Additionally, variety in dishes could contribute more to reputation than repeatedly serving the same meal. Offering a diverse menu would feel more realistic and encourage players to experiment with different recipes.
(Detecting dish variety might be tricky from a technical standpoint, but even a simple system that tracks recently served dishes could work.)

  1. Stronger Penalties for Bad Food
    There should be harsher consequences for serving poorly prepared food. Bad dishes should significantly decrease the player’s reputation.
    This would also make multiplayer more engaging — for example, players could sabotage each other by placing bad food on someone else’s plate, making reputation management more strategic and fun.

  2. Payment Balance
    The current payment system feels a bit overpowered — maybe it’s just me, but a community poll could help determine whether others feel the same.

  3. More Natural Villager Spawn/Despawn Behavior
    Villagers currently spawn and despawn very close to the restaurant, which breaks immersion. Ideally, they should appear and disappear farther away, while still being able to find their way to the restaurant.
    I’m not sure what the ideal radius would be, but increasing the distance would make the overall experience feel more natural.

Hello @gray ivy! I'll try to answer your question to be the best of my ability. Cooking should work with most other add-ons in terms of both being on and working independantly out of the box if they are both on in a world. You wouldn't be able to use custom crops or ingredients from other add-ons on the cooking methods in our add-on if thats what you are asking, but all the vanilla and custom stuff added by cooking should still work just fine. In the case of say another add-on that might add Bananas for example, both our bananas and the other bananas would exist, and you would only be able to use our bananas with our Add-on and their Bananas with theirs. Thats generally just a limitation with how add-ons work for the most part. Let me know if you have any more questions!

Hello, I'm not sure if there will be any new additions to this project? If so, I have some suggestions for this addon that I hope it can serve as a reference.

  1. I think the cooking process can be expanded to be more diverse, for example, adding knives and chopping boards to chop meat and vegetables, adding spatulas to enable stir fry the food.
  2. Try adding new kitchen utensils such as fryers including cooking oil to make fried foods, an rice cooker to make steamed rice and allow the rice to be placed in a bowl.
  3. It would be even better if more recipes were developed such as Chinese food. Additionally when I cook food in the pan, there are three ingredient limitations. I hope to optimize this, For instance, by just adding one egg, I can make fried eggs; and by adding one raw steak, I can get a cooked steak.
    I love this add on and I hope it gets better.🥰

This is beyond technically impressive. It laps both the farming addon by podcrash and crops and farms in terms of recipes. Is there an update in the works right now? With C&F moving towards its new focus on animals and animal breeding, I really think an update could give this addon massive traction

I would like to advocate for some more add-on compatibility with other add-ons "sharing" ingredients.
Specifically Crops&Farms as well as Cakes&Bakes. (Maybe Farming too, but they take ages to update).
The overlap in crops and ingredients could be used by both add-ons with some smart tagging of items and recipes.
