From their design, Shadowrath are actually supposed to be good at dealing with both light and heavy units: Sword for carving up light units, and stick for clobbering up heavy units. Why they ended up light units only I'll never understand.

Probably they are light becouse they are ninjas, they are fast not like speartron with heavy shield and helmet

Logically, they should be fast enough to nip around the heavy units and attacking weak points.
