We all agree that guns are too futuristic for Stick War 3. Most of you agree that even Muskets are off-limits.

If guns of any kind were ever to be added into the game, this would be it: A Fire Lance from the 10th century (or 900s.) The first weapon to use gunpowder. Its first iteration was an attachment for Spears to stun foes with both the blast & the sound of a bang. It wasn't until the 2nd generation, the one shown in video, that they started to add pebbles as projectiles, functioning as a shotgun.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VebnWOjpHis

As for how they can be incorporated into the game, perhaps there could be a new unit with the 2nd generation Fire Lance, or a separate Spear-like unit that sacrifices their shield in exchange for the Fire Lance attachment on their weapon.

I'm just sensible enough not to blatantly suggest modern guns in a medieval/greek setting.

Nope. In my opinion, no matter what type of gun it is, it's too futuristic for sw.

Considering that the timeline of Stick Wars is around the Classical Greece(Swordwrath, Archidon, Spearton and Giants) to Late Classical Age/Arthurian Legend(Magikill), even Crude Guns is around 10-12th Century, while the Classical Age is in around 250 BC and Late Classical is in around 100 AD.

#

Maybe a bit op but would probably be given balanced if they add a unit with this stuff

#

Although it might effect the lore

echo solar

Very promising idea. Could be balanced by making it a high damage but low health and low speed unit that takes up a lot of space

Base off the video you shared.

This unit can be a short ranged unit with AOE dmg

# dreamy otter Ight lemme end this whole man's career 1. Stick war is a fantasy game, therefo...

basically you think any type of gun no matter how primitive it is will be too realistic for stick war because its a fantasy game?

Bruh.

And your saying a fire lance is too futuristic because it's a "fantasy game" so you think the people of inamorta aren't smart enough to discover electronic energy and also discover flying?
Doesn't matter if there are ghouls and stupid snake haired ladies in the universe there will still be a way to discover stuff, it just takes time

Also you're only still talking rn because it's a "fantasy game"

dreamy otter
#

Yep.

#

The people of Immamorta are capable of inventing more, but guns are not it. Even if fire lances or whatever was added, that'd change the lore for the sw universe. Like all of a sudden a archidion gonna say " Yo bro I'm frickin tired of this bow we should really make some fuking muskets." Then muskets appear out of thin air and they start shooting at everything in their sight and shoving muskets up their own a**.
What are you gonna call em? Musketmen? Muskettons? They can't just appear out of nowhere, it'd take years of research before they even come up with the model of the gun, think about how long making the actual thing would take.

#

But think about it, it won't make since for sw lore.

ember wigeon
# dreamy otter The people of Immamorta are capable of inventing more, but guns are not it. Even...

We're talking about adding a more primitive version of the muskets.

It's common sense that something like a musket would change the lore.
But a more primitive gun that has short range will fit perfectly.

And just because it's considered as a "gun" doesn't make it futuristic for a game that still uses crossbows, swords and spears.

The fire lance is literally a spear that shoots multiple rocks at once.
Much like a shotgun but more primitive.

#

And the way they could discover this weapon can be the same as us.

Beginning as a small pyrotechnic device attached to a weapon (like a spear) that is used to gain a small but effective advantage at a start of an attack.

#

Something like this

The Earliest European Gunpowder weapons are the Handcannon which is just short iron tube, followed by matchlock Arquebuses which requires burning matches and need high amount of training to use "safely", the Matchlock Muskets is just optimized and stronger arquebuses, in the early 17th century the Flintlocks is invented which is using flints to make a spark of flames to ignite the gunpowder.

#

There are other names for a Gun, mainly boomsticks or a much more appropriate for a Voltaic Handcannoneer or Arquebusier could be Thunder Gunners, since in some instances some people thought the sound of Handcannons were thunders.

#

heck even in Warhammer Fantasy the Dwarf Gunners were called Thunderers.

#

Early guns were inaccurate and short ranged with their main source of damage is just the shock and fear of facing such loud weaponry.
Only during the invention of Arquebuses guns became good enough for field uses but they will still need to work together with crossbows and archers due to their complicated reload.

Ight lemme end this mans carrier

First of all, this is f*cking medieval. I know the fire lance is medieval or whatever, but besides from it being too futuristic, it'd really just take the place of archidons.
What'd be the cost of this unit? What's it's lore. That is what I'm concerned about if this futuristic weapon were to be added.
The real problem I have with this is how I'd perform and it's lore. The lore would have to go through a lengthy process of change to include this weaponry, and the meta of sw3 would suddenly take a toll. And I don't think sw is anywhere close to the period where they'd researched gunpowder.
And we already got a handful of ranged units with lore that makes since, this idea doesn't even have anything behind it. We don't even know if it's a unit or an upgrade which renders this idea useless. And as I've said and I'll say it again, it just interferes with lore.

dire yoke
# dreamy otter Ight lemme end this mans carrier First of all, this is f*cking medieval. I know...

Your quest on ending someone's career only makes you sounds like a snotty brat in the end.

Of course a new lore need to be made and regarding the meta there's many role a Handcannon could be in both pros and cons.
Even in a Medieval Game like Age of Empires 2 the Handcannoneer main advantage is their high damage but low accuracy and chance of overkilling units.
Right now Anti Heavy Ranged units is quite rare for Order Faction, probably due to the lack of Albowtross, but a Spearton's Peltast or Voltaic Handcannons could give more option.

Plus did I even say it needs Gunpowder? perhaps you're the one who need to have their career ended, my explanation is to have a electric tube that will be ignited to produce an explosion to propel a projectile.

dreamy otter
#

That's fine with me

dreamy otter
#

And the only one being a snotty brat is you. Before you even attempt to come at me, I'm gonna need some stats and traits of this unit. You are yet to give me any type of enlightenment about this unit ( A.K.A abomination).
An idea without detail is like pizza with no cheese.

dire yoke
#

If you need stats then let's see:
Name: Voltaic Cannoneer
Type: Order, Light, Ranged
HP: 70
Damage: 20+10 vs Heavy, 2 Seconds Reload
Speed: Slow, slightly faster than magikill
Cost: 400 Gold, 20 Seconds Train time, 3 Population.
Range: Medium(Shorter than Archidons)
Abilities: Fast Projectile speed, but have inaccuracies and high damage falloff if the projectile hit far from the Cannoneer's Range.
Upgrades:
-Heavy ammo, land heavy units hit by Cannoneer have their speed reduced by 20% for 2/3/5 seconds. land Light units get knocked down when the first upgrade is researched.
This is what think of for now, a Anti Heavy and Large ranged unit who can delay heavier units like the Ripriders and Giants from closing in. However they're weak against missiles who can fire accurately from range or any units that managed to get close to them. and perhaps a damage penalty against flying units.

I was going to say, since bombers from SW2 had dynamite (assuming this is a continuation of SW2, and ignoring new bomber design) sulfur should exist allowing firelances / firework explosives to exist in the SW continuity

But the main question about this idea is balancing.

Ah yes Renaissance age with Greek Hoplites

dire yoke

and the fact he goes over to Muskets shows and thinks it's a 17th Century Flinlock Muskets is the same as Fire Lances.

#

Bows historically become obsolete in 16h Century, in the age where the primary missile weapons are Matchlock Arquebuses and Crossbows.

#

Matchlock Arquebuses are highly complicated to use due to needing a burning rope or matches to trigger the black powder, rain and wind could burn out those matches.
It's not a Semi Auto rifle or breech loading rifle, it's a freaking complicated ranged weaponry.

Fire Lances already exists in SW3 or atleast a slightly altered verse

And another thing

Gunpowder is a mix of sulfur saltpeter and a few other stuff

Meaning they'd have to actually make the gunpowder

Earth and Inamorta are 2 different things, right? You can tell because of the geography of Inamorta and the Geography of the earth, and the people? We could say that the Stickmen are the successors of us Humans because they are more advanced technologically, and heck, knowledge in general because they got magic and all that, so it would make sense for Fire Lances to exist because Icaron literally invented a flying device that us humans weren't able to do in a million years. So logically, Fire Lances should exist because Stickmen are superior in every way.
