Hello everyone !
I'm looking for help here because after looking online, with a lot of the sources saying it's just overheating, I'm looking for a second opinion.
Cpu- ultra 7 256V
Gpu- 140V (8GB)

So the issue I'm encountering is on the game R6Siege, my fps dropping until pretty much freeze & my CPU usage going from 100% to 0%.
I've only been back on the game for like 6-8 days, the first couple days having 0 issue but these last 2-3 days have been unplayable because of this.

I haven't change anything so I'm wondering what it could be.

I opened the back to see if it had any dust building in the fans after a a year of not checking but nothing there to see.

My settings are on the lowest ( saw that it could be good to put the settings a little higher so that it goes onto the Gpu but same issue ), fans are running full speed & laptop is lifted for the airflow, latest driver update done, no apps/browsers opened in the background.
The Cpu does reach between 85-95 degrees while playing but it did before as well.

I'm thinking of buying a cooling pad & change the thermal paste but I don't think it will fix the issue even though I hope it's that easy ! ( I don't know anything about computers )

I might of forgotten some info lmk but I'm desperate so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time !!

I would recommend using HWInfo to check temps when you are running the Game. In HWInfo, on a Intel system, you can scroll down to where a section says something "Enhanced". You want to monitor the PL1 & PL2 Power Limits (both Static & Dynamic). If you noticed the "Dynamic" PL1 & PL2 Watts are being lowered aggressively too low, then it could be a bug with Intel's IPF/DTT.

Intel's IPF/DTT is a thermal management framework & battery management. It has been known to incorrectly "throttle" the CPU & GPU prematurely and degrade performance. This is due to IPF/DTT think its "Smart" by delaying/minimizing CPU Fan usage, when in reality its causing the thermal problem in the first place. Its been a know "bug" in DTT (aka DPTF)/IPF for over a decade.

I usually just uninstall the Intel DPFT/DTT/IPF drivers and my system runs fine on my TGL laptop. Without DTT/IPF, EC & BIOS will take over the CPU fan in a default mode and manage the thermals/performance properly with minimum performance loss compared to DTT/IPF.

your issue really looks like aggressive power throttling, not just overheating
