OK, I just got a new B580 card and swapped from my old 1070 GTX.
I'm using VideoRedo to recode my TV captures and it either errors out before doing anything or takes forever to finish a recode using the HVEC option.
I have a Ryzen 3900x and a Asus mother board.
resizable Bar isn't installed and I may need a firmware update.
Any suggestions on what to check, tweak, or update, Thanks, Terry/DartmanLexThumbsUp

Well I managed to find the latest 2025 firmware for my board and I got the resizable bar working. My FPS recoding HEVC went from 34 to around 100 which is a huge improvement but still slower then the 1070 averaged doing similar work. Any other ideas as to tweaks to improve the speed? I was surprised how much of a difference it made but would like to get better if possible as the 1070 was averaging around 260-270. Still playing with the settings to see what happens but at least it's getting better.

I played with the HVEC settings some more and got it up to 145fps average and a couple of passes were in the 265 range so must have been something different that it liked. Now I guess it's wait for firmware and driver updates and see if anyone has any suggestions I haven't thought of.

What resolution are you recording at? I never tried HEVC but AV1 on the highest preset ends up around the 300 fps mark for 1080p, probably worth it to just switch to AV1 of the recording software supports it. But in general don't expect nvidia-level support from software, even though the encoder itself is very good.

I am recording at whatever the native resolution is as far as I know. HEVC is SUPOSSED to have the best compression ratio with still decent looking video. I can do about 45 minutes at about 4.5 mbs and it still looks good on my 8k 75 TV. It's also about 1400 to 1500mb which is really good for the quality level I get. If I drop the bitrate much lower the video gets pretty soft looking on my TV where it used to look fine on my old smaller 65 4k set even at like 1.5 mbs so I had to up the bitrate for the higher res bigger screen.

Video Recode doesn't have AV1 option, I just checked so guess I'm outa luck seeing how the developer died and probably won't be any updates from now on, but I like it and it's easy to deal with for me. Might have to see if anything newer can do everything all in one like this app does.
