#Spontaneous Rebooting Issue?

So I had the weirdest thing happen with my PC just now where I was in the midst of playing Honkai Star Rail and out of nowhere the game completely locks up, monitor goes dark and my PC seems to reboot itself... however everything is still running. Lights are on, fans are operational, and I can hear all the components running as though the PC is still on.

There is no overheating going on - all temps are completely normal. I don't think its a hardware issue either as the PC was purchased a couple months or so ago and has thus far been a stellar build working as normal with several games including Cyberpunk 2077, VRChat (PCVR), Baldur's Gate 3, etc.

Needless to say I am very confused and I'm praying that yet again I haven't been dealt another cursed PC. My PC is only a couple months old, and is a prebuilt from Best Buy.

Specs:

  • NVIDIA RTX5070Ti GPU
  • Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-14900KF CPU (3.20ghz)
  • 1000w PSU (brand unknown, could not find it listed in the components list on the BB website)
  • 32gb of RAM
  • MSI PRO Z790-P WIFI (MS-7E06) motherboard

since its a prebuilt, find out what PSU you have, probably by opening the PC case and looking.

Seeing 14th gen - is your motherboard bios the newest version?

In my experience, blackscreens, let alone weird ones like that, are usually a power supply problem of some sort. Including "mobo or other VRM" in that list.
