#INTEL EXTREME NUC 12 not turning on
58 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Could you please post the exact model number of the nuc, and the website it was purchased off of? These 2 things well increase your chances of getting help quickly. (The Model can be found somewhere on the NUC or its box.)
It was bought on LDLC.com
It's this one I believe but I'm not sure
And I don't have the model right now I was on facetime with him
@robust rock did you... buy RAM and storage?
Not my PC but he bought it already fully built
(He is a newbie I know)
right but what I'm saying is that if it's a barebones kit, it doesn't come with RAM and storage built in even when assembled out the box.
meaning it won't boot and there's your problem
If the screen is saying entering power save mode, that's the monitor not recognizing any input, i.e. no computer signal
The fans don't turn on
So it's more than the monitor
right... they won't if they don't have a boot device
get an SSD and RAM
How do you know it doesn't come with ssd or ram
And where are the sockets on that motherboard
Under the big skull box?
If it's a barebones kit, which is what you linked then you need these things
there are build guides and tutorials and searches for compatible parts and how to install them
Ye dw ik partpicker
And ram and ssd should be quite easy
I was just lost a bit because my own pc is for amd parts
So it lacks ssd and ram
What else?
that's about it
2x DDR4 3200Mhz (SODIMM)
so thats "laptop ram", the small ones
for drives its 3xm.2 and/or 2xsata
thats alot of m.2 on pcie 4.0
I don't understand a thing
sorry, i think i was up for too long
your NUC uses "laptop ram" aka "sodimm"
the rated speed is 3200mhz
the label should say "PC4-25600S"
look for this when browsing ram
the drive part wasn't inportant, unless you want "maximumest"
I figured out
But
The pc has no graphic card
Do yall have any model to recommend ?
@crystal zephyr
If your looking to play mostly newer games you could give an Arc A770 or 750 a shot as they are pretty cheap pricewise. (Also check out the #intel-arc section(s) to see what others think about the Arc cards. If however you want to play both older and newer games I would likely go with something like an Geforce RTX 4070/4060 Ti they be a bit more expensive but should play everything.
But they don't fit in the extreme nuc 12 case right?
You'll need to check the dimesisons of each card to be sure but most 2 slot cards should fit. Example build: https://www.engadget.com/intel-nuc-12-extreme-review-gaming-mini-desktop-171532497.html
There is also this page:
It doesn't have 40 series cards listed but if you match the dimensions vs the older cards should make it easy to find one that fits:
https://compatibleproducts.intel.com/ProductDetails?activeModule=Intel® NUC&prdName=NUC12DCMi7
graphics card often come in 2 sizes
normal form factor, and small form factor
i have no experience with NUC's sadly
and im not sure if vendors of arc cards make small form factor versions, they would be less powerfull and could maybe be passive cooled(thats my experience with low-end nvidea cards)
i have heard about an A750M, could be a mobile chip on a pcie card
you could measure the space you have
and do research on what it actualy says vs what newer/other versions say ect
are they not set in stone peices you can order?
It's not my pc it's far away from me
The person just don't know anything about pc's so im doing it
i see big nuc's and small nuc's
the big one's maybe fit an underpowered gpu(small form factor?)
or heavy modifications need to be done, watercooling? stripping metal? open case?
There particular NUC model will fit something as large as this: https://www.evga.com/products/specs/gpu.aspx?pn=70084C16-355E-4D62-A416-D6687E158C1F
Featuring all-new Xe HPG microarchitecture with advanced Xe-cores, this high-performance GPU was built for your gaming, creating, and streaming needs.
Alright so all those informations are quite confusing
I thank you 2 for being invested
But could you @somber tendon send me like
2 or 3 gpus that fit into the nuc extreme 12
Here is the page of the bought product if you ask https://www.ldlc.com/fiche/PB00504684.html
This is all of the products Intel officially tested in you same model unit your friend bought: #1156652860281458768 message
These are only my suggestions and will likely work but I don't have the system or anyway to test if they will fit:
