That's a very old chipset, LGA775 is a bit like AM4 where the older chipsets and boards don't necessarily work with the newest CPUs.

I can't find a compatibility list for your board, but here's an asus board on the same chipset that doesn't support 45nm Core 2 processors: https://www.asus.com/supportonly/t3-p5g965a/helpdesk_cpu/

So best guess, maybe the top processor you can run is a 65nm quad core. The good news is, Q6600s are cheap.
