#ROG Strix B760-I Bios Settings

OK so the checklist is;
-XMP applied so you get the full memory speed
-Resizeable BAR enabled so the GPU performs properly
-PCIe ASPM L1 mode so the idle power draw of the GPU is reasonable
I'll have a look in the manual to confirm whee those all are.
weirdly I can't find XMP in the bios manual, it should be under AI Tweaker though
resizeable BAR is a button as part of the menu, up at the top right (written as ReSize BAR), you want that on/enabled/whatever it's called
ASPM is under advanced->platform misc configuration. I'm fairly sure you want to set "PEG - ASPM" to "ASPM L1" based on https://www.techpowerup.com/300004/intel-outs-workaround-for-high-arc-a770-idle-power-force-pcie-l1-aspm-in-motherboard-bios
(PEG = PCI Express Graphics, ie the connection to the GPU)
I don't know if you'd need to fiddle with Native ASPM and/or PCI Express Native Power Management but I'd expect the defaults to be fine
It's easy to tell if your ASPM settings are correct though. Just get GPU-Z, go to the sensors tab, and check GPU chip power draw. If it's 30W+ at idle, then ASPM settings need changing. If it's more like 10W you're good.
GPU-Z will also confirm if resizeable BAR is enabled, that should be in the main 'graphics card' tab at the bottom right
Thank you but my xmp profile legit breaks my whole system for some reason and it won’t run at 6000 unless it’s just a visual bug
On xmp 2
Idk if I need to play with voltages or what
And I’ve tried getting it to run at 5600 it still has issues
It’s a ripjaws s5 kit
That's surprising. Well, you could always leave XMP off completely - you only have a 13400, not a 13900K or something, so it won't be losing too much as DDR5 is already very fast.
There might be voltages that help, I don't have experience on 13th gen so I'm not sure which though.
Is it a 2x16GB kit?
Weird, I'd definitely have expected that to work
It’s probably fixable if I manually do something but idk how to mess with it properly + it’s a b760 board so I don’t even know if I can
I tried raising voltages from 1.35 to 1.4 and it still didint do anything
take a look at https://www.overclockers.com/ddr5-overclocking-guide/#Step_2_Coarse_Voltage_Tuning - might be helpful for knowing which voltages to change
(because I personally have no idea)
Will take a look at this when I get home today
@balmy wave I think I’ve figured it out
Out of all the cl latency speeds my motherboard supports it can’t go below 32 on my ram kit
And I have a cl30 kit so I can’t do anything about it, unless you can change the cl speed manually
ahh ok, well the good news is just changing cl to 32 should work totally fine
I changed all the timings to the timings the cl32 6000 kit for the s5 had and applied, no change and the ram stayed the same so I’m just guessing it’s a bug.
