Have you tried plugging it in using the usb sound card it came with?

The motherboard headphone jack probably doesn’t carry the mic signal in a single 3.5mm jack and needs separate headphone and mic jacks whereas the usb sound card works with it

problem has been resolved, all I needed to do is disable noise suppression in sound settings that blocked my mic from being used
