Thermal pads are much less compressible than any thermal paste, making heat transfer less efficient

#

They are suited for low power, low heat density applications, like vram, dram or laptops cpu

those carbon pads are pricier than paste by quite an amount, and also they in fact do tear sometimes when opening\swapping stuff and are quite hard to remove.

just check the Radeon Reference 6000 series models, they are using those.

i do know several ppl that do use pads on cpu's but it comes off pricier and is only for ppl who set and forget, as in they don't swap their HW often.

i dont think normal thermal pads are an option for a gpu, only for vram or vrms

although there are some pads that liquify at very low temperatures that might be a good option

ptm7950 is what it's called

#

is rlly expensive tho

#

so ur probably just better off using thermal paste even in the longterm

Yeah there's decent higher end thermal pads but they'd just cost more
