They are suited for low power, low heat density applications, like vram, dram or laptops cpu
those carbon pads are pricier than paste by quite an amount, and also they in fact do tear sometimes when opening\swapping stuff and are quite hard to remove.
just check the Radeon Reference 6000 series models, they are using those.
i do know several ppl that do use pads on cpu's but it comes off pricier and is only for ppl who set and forget, as in they don't swap their HW often.
i dont think normal thermal pads are an option for a gpu, only for vram or vrms
although there are some pads that liquify at very low temperatures that might be a good option

is rlly expensive tho
so ur probably just better off using thermal paste even in the longterm
Yeah there's decent higher end thermal pads but they'd just cost more
