And thunderbolt doesn’t have much use on desktops as it does on laptops

It's niche because people don't want to purchase EGPUs if EGPU were not expensive more people would use it

I believe if PCs can be used as EGPUs more people would

eGPUs are useless at this point. They are limited to PCIe 3.0 X4, which is not enough to feed a GPU from the NV 10xx series... Let alone anyhting that has come out in the last few months.
