In my speculation warframes have some kind of internal energy source, that's why they don't need to breathe, their "living" parts get energy through another way, probably electrosynthesis. In case of Xaku it's a bit more unclear tho, i could say that the skeleton made of void is more like a manjfest of its mind, than a real part of the body. The fact that it's capable of being damaged is just a result of bullets distorting it's shape.
