Name:- Gintama
Genre:- Action, sci-fi & comedy(mostly all types of genres)
Rating:- 8.7/10
Synopsis:- Set in Edo, which has been conquered by aliens named Amanto, the plot follows life from the point of view of samurai Gintoki Sakata, who works as a freelancer alongside his friends Shinpachi Shimura and Kagura to pay the monthly rent.

Opinion:- Gintama is 80% comedy 20% serious with 360+ episodes & movies. Definitely fun, but episodic & slice of life. It would take hundreds of episodes and a handful of serious arcs before you manage to piece together the "main" overarching plot. There is indeed a serious main plot that has been seeded since S1, but you'd only realize it after rewatching.

If you are interested in watching on your own or reacting, expect the focus of Gintama to be on the characters & their chemistry/bond. As you can tell, Gintama has a wide range of repeating characters. Now what happens when they mix with each other, each episode focusing on new combinations of characters that mingle and their relationships? The result is a ton of chaos, fun, sadness, bitterness, and other emotions. Watch it for the journey, not for the end goal... because Gintama doesn't have an end goal lol. No treasure, no dreams, no ambitions - and that's what makes it great hahahaha..

Gintama is in a league of its own. However, you must realize that it's a parody anime, meaning it jokes about characters and scenes from other animes.
The best part about Gintama is that it's hilarious! I've had times where I had to worry about waking up the entire floor from laughing. Gintama is one of those anime where you laugh for a few seconds at a scene, and then fall asleep thinking about it. The funny scenes replay the next morning and as a result, you have a giant smile plastered across your face for the rest of the morning.
