I think it would be a nice feature, if the Thors and Nuclear launchers had their targeting algorithms altered to only use one of the group to fire the missile.
Now, if you have a group of Thors selected and you issue a "Launch" command, what happens is that all of them, when they get in range would fire their EMP missiles at the target. So you get a massive overkill (you rarely if ever need more than one EMP missile to land at a spot). The same applies to nukes.
The proposed change would make only the closest Thor fire it's missile, subsequent targets would get assigned to the next closes, ready Thor etc. This would be similar to how Ravagers work in SC2 - if you have a group of them selected and want to fire a corrosive bile, only one (the closest one) fires. If you want multiple biles to land at a target you just repeat the command.
Now, maybe the current situation is a conscious decision to make the skill ceiling of using Thors/Nukes higher. If so, I understand completely. But if we're talking convenience alone, I think the proposed change would make a lot of sense.
So to reiterate - if you had 5 nuclear launchers selected and you selected Attack Left Click the ground you would get one of them fire it’s missile. If you want more in the same spot, no problem, you just repeat the sequence of commands and target the same place. But if you want your silos to target different spots, you could easily do it too.
I find that it’s rare to target Thor’s EMP at the same place multiple times, and it’s mostly the same for Nukes and static EMP launchers. Maybe some other units would also benefit from this change.
