90m cost gunship with 250 dps, wtf or not?

Isn't the dps of the seaplane swarmer inflated by its AA modifiers? I think it can do both AA and anti ground

I'd happily talk about strength of seaplane stuff. Imo it's entirely on par with t2 air when compared to t1 AA and air. But comes 1500m sooner. Is strong.

Also there's no 200m option for t2 gunships so cheaper things there.

Swarmers crush t1 fighters and seaplane bombers have SO much hp

The T1 arm gunship costs 135m 2300E, has 485 health and 33.3dps
The T1 seaplane gunship costs 210m 6400E, has 1010 health and 66.6dps
The T2 arm gunship costs 310m 6200E, has 1780 health and 106.6 dps
The seaplane gunship's stats are in line with the T1 and T2 gunships, but it does seem to perform very well ingame

I think it mainly has to do with how a sea player who wins his lane can put a lot of resources into getting a critical mass of gunships, and a claimed sea provides safer routes to attack from

t2 arm gunship also misses a lot.

Note that roughneck has received improvements on that just two days ago or so

Good to know

There's a noticeable difference in core and arm gunship seaplane as well

#

Also arm t1 gunship misses most shots

Although I don’t have any knowledge on the swarmed I can confirm that the Cortex air units for sea in terms of gunships are very superior to the Armada counterpart

yeah, I was going to say. Seaplane's having significantly more HP and more DPS, and most importantly a weapon that consistently applies that DPS (laser) makes it very strong in combination. A few T1 AA that people usually prepare for T1 air isn't enough to actually hold them off. And when they do get into your base, their 2x DPS compared to T1 gunships and 100% hit rate with their weapon means they can demolish any AA you have and then wreck the base.

I'll have to try roughnecks out again and see if they perform better now.

Im not really sure how much being sea and having untouchable eco affects seaplane gunship use. I feel like whether it's 5 gunships or 30, they always seem to perform well regardless of the eco the player has when going for them as a strategy.

TBH, I love seaplane gunships. i wish all T1 gunships were buffed to the point where they were comparable to seaplane gunships too. It would make them feel so much more useful in game

I just tested 5x of each gunship vs 10 pawns "raiding" by moving around as a group

#

I tooks 51 gunships soooo long to kill 10 pawns, by the time you kill them, theyve probably already wrecked a base

#

All Armada gunships being tested, all tests done with gunships focus firing pawns one after another while pawns patrolled on some route
23 seconds to kill 10 pawns with 5 t1 gunships
13 seconds to kill 10 pawns with 5 T1 seaplane gunships
15 seconds to kill 10 pawns with 5 T2 gunships

#

having 100% hit rate DPS makes seaplane gunships so much better aat intercepting units. And probably when target firing AA to neutralize a base too, although I haven't tested that. Ill test it later today

#

I dont know about other people, but when I envision having 5 T1 gunships shooting at 10 moving pawns, I kinda expect the pawns to die in maybe 10 seconds, longest 15. Im not expecting to have to wait half a minute for the job to get finished. I think thats why everyone feels t1 gunships are so weak, cos they kinda are. This was tesed on pawns, if its a raid force of thugs or med tanks....the gunships will kill things so slowly that by the time you finish, your teammates already dead and flaming you for not being more useful

#

also, its kinda funny that seaplane gunships were better than roughnecks at this test. I know its because roughnecks have more aoe because of bullet spread, but against pawns its still kinda disheartening that roughnecks still take 15 seconds to kill off such a small raiding group of pawns while seaplanes do it in 13. A frontliner could easily could lose 2-3 mexs in 15 seconds to runbys. Whats the point of having 5 T2 gunships at 1550 metal total as a backliner, if some pawns can still kill 2 mexs while under fire.... When you consider the roughnecks are also significantly more expensive than the other options... it does feel a little bad that 5 roughnecks still get outperformed by 5 seaplane gunships for a higher cost. And this is just trying to counter a 10 pawn raid, it's not that large of a raiding force

The main complaint I've seen about the arm seaplane gunship is how quickly it can destroy a base that has light aa, rather than its strength against moving units. The fast accurate weapon shouldn't end up more effective against static targets, so it shouldn't be better against bases than the other gunships cost for cost.
As for gunships being slow at killing units, it should be slow since its free value where the gunships are at no risk. A gunship might take 30s to pay off itself, but that is an easy condition to meet when used defensively. A group of gunships can stop the opponent from getting value from raids, so it should be a large investment. Bladewings might be too effective at this, but they are very fragile and require coordination.
