We have 8v8 with 16 colors.
I've had this idea for a while now. Tell me what you think.

What if instead of having 1 color per player we had the option to have 2 players or even 3 or 4 per color?
All able to control each others units and buildings.

Or have a smaller weaker assistant commander that a newb friend can control making games 16v16. 1 Commander and his Lieutenant both RED. Red lieutenant is able to control any unit or building just as red commander would.

Haven't you ever wanted to take control of an engineer to help out a friend with micromanaging?

Let me know if this idea clicks with you. I think it could be fun to not take up a commander slot but still be able to play in a match.

It’s already possible for several users to share one player engine wise. They need to share the same id

ID sharing is unfortunately disabled at the moment pending UI issues, but bringing it back is on the roadmap!

The archon mode in sc2 is a great example of this..
