super excited to have found this game as i was a huge fan of total annihilation back in the late 90s.
i have just tried to play it on my Microsoft surface book and I have an error message when loading the game "you are using the integrated intel graphics card. Its currently unsupported, the game wont work properly."
After a couple of minutes of building all my units/buildings disappear and go transparent.
is there anything i can do to remedy this?

I'm sorry to say but the error message you get there is 100% correct

Yeah, do not expect an Intel iGPU to work properly. Even the dedicated Intel cards are not properly supported at this point, and an iGPU will likely not have the horsepower to run the game well, even if support was added.
You really have two remedies: If your Surface Book supports it, get an external GPU (preferably Nvidia, as AMD has driver issues of its own) and try playing with that.
Or, get a whole new (probably desktop) PC.
I know it sucks, but that's the reality with intel graphics.
