If you want to resign in a team game it seems that using a resign vote is the more polite way ie. "I think it's lost but if my team want to keep going Im ok with staying and doing what I can"
But for new players ( me included ) there is only a Resign button and no Resign vote button, you have to know that the option exists and the command to do so
Adding a "Start resign vote" button for team games (or even replacing the resign button by a resign vote button?) would help.

Maybe when you click resign it pops up a dialog confirm instead of yes/no, you can choose self/team/nevermind
