#Lots of questions about screens

Hello,

This is kind of a FAQ-style post 😄

I’m currently in the process of completely rebuilding my monitor setup, with a fairly flexible budget, and I’d love to get some feedback on a few key points !

🎯 1. OLED vs IPS (burn-in & color accuracy)

I’m quite interested in OLED, but I have two concerns

  • Burn-in over time
  • Color accuracy: is it relevant to work on an OLED display when most people are using standard displays (IPS, etc.)?

🎨 2. sRGB vs DCI-P3

I’ve never been sure which one to prioritize.

I do 99% of my work for the web (thumbnails, posters, design, etc.)
Very little printing (and only for personal use)

  • Should I stick to sRGB?
  • Or take advantage of DCI-P3?

🖥️ 3. 4K 27" vs 32" & Windows scaling

I recently got a 4K 27" monitor, but with 150% scaling, some apps and games look a bit blurry.

So I’m wondering:

  • Would a 32" be more comfortable?
  • Are interfaces still readable without heavy scaling?

For reference, this is my current monitor:

🌈 4. HDR & Photoshop

Does working with HDR enabled actually make sense in Photoshop?
I’ve never really understood when it’s useful.

🧠 Final goal

Ideally, I want:

Two 4K monitors
A setup that is very comfortable to work with
And most importantly, a real improvement in my work quality

Ultrawide

I tried ultrawide monitors briefly, but since I use a 16:9 graphics tablet, it didn’t feel suitable.

Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to help 🙏

Hi, “the web” is increasingly consumed on mobile device whose color space is now P3, see:

When I use a standard profile, what color gamut does it use?
