#Isolating a layer that is colored by a gradient map?

I'm using a gradient map to color a graphic and I'd like to isolate it from the background to paste into another document. However the gradient map relies on the context to color properly, so when I hide the background it will shift colors as seen in the second image. I've tried merging the layers and using 'Blend if' in the layer style but this will eat into the graphic. If someone knows how to isolate the graphic layer in it's entirety from the background while maintaining the colors from the gradient map then that would be much appreciated!

So you like that rich orange...

Does this help?

The goal here was to get a layer that "just worked" without relying on a blend mode above/below it...
