Hey friends ... we have a book project ... each will hve 25 very large, detailed pages off all art types with text.

Any suggestions between:

  • photoshop with artboards
  • photoshop with artboards and link each page to a sub PSD file
  • indesign with pages linked to a PSD file

Thanks!

Output generally determines the architecture and layout applications. If you're making a "book" then I would probably choose InDesign; that's what the app was designed to do, i.e. multi-page documents. However, if the pages are heavy with vector graphics, typesetting and typography design, an argument could be made for creating the page layouts with Adobe Illustrator. Then exporting to PDF and assembling a multi-page document by merging them in Acrobat.

This is the process I used for a comic book.

Just to add: It also depends what kind of "extras" you have in that book: Table of content? Index? These are strictly InDesign features, you won't find anywhere else.
