Decently new to typography, having trouble making accruate weaving of a snake with text in front of it, i was wondering how you can find the outline and just fill it in instead of doing substract front shape with pen(2nd image). Trying to do something similar to the last image. The text is already a shape

I rasterized the layer and just used a pen to trace the outlines, is there a better way because i can only guess where the corners are

Hi, what if you duplicated the text, converted to paths, and removed the parts you did not need instead of painstakingly recreating them?

Bit confused with paths, both convert to path and create work path have been greyed out, do i need to create a pen path around the letters then convert to paths?

You can’t convert to paths if you already converted to pixels/rasterized
