hi i'm a beginner and i dont know anything about photoshop
first thing i tried was pen tool but it likes to be weird and high-key not move whenever i try to move it so then i was like oh maybe i can use this rectangle tool and that kind of worked but it isn't the shape i'm looking for

how do i make a clean trapezoid shape and then round the edges

#

it's for a desktop wallpaper because see i am trying to make the icons more readable while still having whatever image in the background

#

i also did not google my question before asking here

Adobe Illustrator has much better tools for creating and editing vector objects. I would use that instead of Photoshop. Ps has some vector tools but they are not nearly as robust. @supple gale

You could do it with Photoshop but its going to be more complicated. You'd probably need to use the Pen. Honestly, I would draw half of the shape, get it perfect and then mirror it to get the other half.

i was doing a thing where you shift and ctrl drag a corner of a rectangle before you bevel it and that was working pretty nicely

#

then duplicate and reflect for other side

#

but no idea how to round the edges for that

#

however i did discover bevel things where it adds highlighting and shadows and make it look more three dimensional

#

which is pretty cool

You can do the bevel as a Layer Style Effect in Photoshop. I just mentioned to use Illustrator for the shape(s) becaus if its something specific, it might be easier in the sister app.
