Your eraser opacity is at 1%

so it doesn't erase anything

Also why do you use the eraser tool to paint on a mask? You should be using the paint tool, it has more settings and will allow you to paint back with just switching the colours

White reaveals, and black hides, hitting X, you can easily switch from black to white with brush, while the eraser only erases

Bottom line: You're not doing the same as you did before. You used the brush tool on a mask before, which is correct. Now you used the Eraser tool on the mask, which will never work.
