#Curious how you all organize your PS/LR assets?

for those of you who have backgrounds, cliparts, overlays, etc

Do you keep/sort them based on what they are and where you got them? or do you throw them all in a general category? I thought about doing categories and throwing them all in but sometimes I'd like to know who/where I got it from, I'm not even sure how to find all of it... I have so much of it LOL (I suppose I could use LR to catalog it 😛 (since it supports most image formats, why not?) good/bad idea?

its a good idea to organize your stuff. since for now i dont have plenty of assests but still i face the same problem. there must be some concrete solution to it

organizing isn't the issue; its how to organize, themes, type, seller? I could do all 3 but I'd need Lightroom I guess

#

but I wanna keep it simple so I'll just throw it all in one

You can use bridge and keyword all your stuff, Or put them in collections.
I don't typically do that with assets (I keep them organised by categories: folders, subfolders etc) but working files are keyworded and/or put into collections

#

TDLR: Use Bridge 😁

this is true, but it won't help me organize/see brushes and presets

#

I do have LR I have been considering using it

Was about to suggest Bridge as well!

I also wish I had a way to display all this stuff online quick and easy

I found a solution; a DAM and there's a DAM that can be turned into a webserver but tbh that's too much hassle

I found another DAM but they limit it to 20GB and I know I will exceed that easily 😦

Maybe it can't visualise anything (I doubt you will find a software that visualised .abr anyway) but you'll be able to visualise .psd, .ai, .pdf and all the Adobe files, in addition to most video files (yes, even scanning the timeline in a thumbnail)
.ai files can be visualised, in thumbnails, by artboards, .with .pdf you can scan the pages in the thumbnail as well. You can also visualise all the RAW formats
I would be curious to see a DAM that allows that

#

If you keyword and tag your presets and brushes it will sort them out

#

That's also what collections are for (also have a look at "smart collections" as well.)

would be neat if ABRs could be visualized, I knew that some files can't be visualized; and yes Br can indeed publish to an online source but you need hosting for that IIRC

there are two DAMs that do that well which are Filecamp and Stockpress, I'll likely go with Stockpress but anytime soon because they are so silly by only having 3 features on their highest tier that should be on all their other tiers

I Use LrC & Bridge for Photo, Video for all other file management I use an Switzerland app called Total commander this app have i used abut 30 year in Windows. One of the best management program for Windows, before Windows I used a program called Norton Commander.

Did Total commander buy it from Norton? 😉

I'm using an app called iMatch and it seems to be decent, you CAN use it to organize certain files that it normally doesn't and it will deal with sidecar files also 😉

Windows Commander have same functionality that Norton Commander had, Windows Commander change name to Total Commander after Windows tell Christian Ghisler that hi was allowed to use Windows in the name of his program. Total Commander still updates. I have only pay for one update and that was then TC com in 64 bits version. The program is more than file manger app, it be used as FTP program batch rename file, brows images, and cad files, play music and more, There are also a lot of plugins. https://www.ghisler.com/
