Kind of abstract question but not sure where else to turn, currently in the process of making a sketchwork akin to the longsleeve shirt shown below. Just wondering how can I make it so the longsleeve part is engulfed with the print I want to place upon it - like what tool/effect would I use?

Do you need an effect to represent it in what seems a technical drawing? or something that realistically represents the fact that one is inside the other?
If the latter I would simply put a shadow that indicates that one is inside the other and give a sense of depth. If the former, these things are generally documented by patterns makes (Having done a bit of sewing in my days, I seem to remember they will show the top bit folded at an angle on a tiny area, but you really need to check that with people who really know
or just indicate that there is a "back" in the top sleeve
See that one where the person drawn the back of the tunic appearing to show that the trousers are inside the flowing tunic
if it's really a technical drawing done for the purpose of be used in manufacturing, you should ask people in that business, as it could lead to costly mistakes. Things will need to be done with the expected codes
Wait, sorry for taking so long to respond. I think I miscommunicated what I meant.
I mean the print on the longsleeve
In the example I sent, the print takes up the entire longsleeve as opposed to just being on one side - I want to replicate this in the mockup I'm making.
I'd send what I want to print on the longsleeves here but it's NSFW so I'm just trying to work with the examples I have.
so you want to mirror the pattern from the left sleeve to the right?
Caan you show your Photoshop window first? I would like to see the layer panels so it's easier for me to explain
I think how I’d describe it is
the prints I want to use rn
would only cover a certain area of the cloth
I want the prints on the sleeves
to cover the entire sleeve
You woould need to mask, or clip the pattern layer to your sleeve
Oh ok
Let me screenshot something quick
See my layers panel and how it staks
See how the pattern is clipped on top of the sleeve (Sorry I can't see much on your photo, a screenshot is always best)
I've just been adding transparent images and dragging them into place
I'll try your way
Select the pattern, right click and choose "create clipping mask"
The pattern needs to be exactly next on top of the sleeve
Alright
This is how it looks before it's clipped
and after
see how the pattern is restricted to the sleeve
Tysm,
so i just need to make a seperate layer for the sleeve
and then make a clipping mask
Typically, for that sort of things, yes, everything needs to be separated into different layers so you can easily recolour, or add effects to he different parts
Ok thanks. This is my first time doing anything like this so it ended up kind of noobish lol, I'll make the amendments now.
If you want to do it properly, create everything ththat is separate (tee shirt, front panel, sleeves) as separate entities
No worries! Good luck!
