#Why is it autoconnecting my line?

Is it photoshop?
Yes
Otherwise I would be in the illustrator server
🙃
Previously didn't happen to me
It happens more time than I can count you know 🙂
Yeah I getcha
No worries, that's why I ask first 😂
Can you show a whole window? Particularly your settings on the top contextual bar?
Close screenshots never really help identifying the issue
For sure
Also it's it a recent version?
OK, just checking and it doesn't auto close for me (I would be mad if it did). Checked with the curvature tool and standard pen
That's odd
On previous versions it didn't use to do this
Ok I managed to fix it
Found the issue
What was it? I'm curious?
I'll replicate it so you can see what I was doing wrong and hopefully tell others
I had the pen tool on path
And then I clicked shape
and removed the fill
when I do that it autocompletes
what I need to do instead is change the pen tool to start on shape
as a result it'll not autocomplete
That's a super odd choice from adobe but whatever
I don't remember it being like this before
It should definitely be a checkbox or a setting of some kind this is super unintuitive
Anyways much appreciated! Sorry for being a bother.
there is nothing in the preferences (I checked) but let's be honest, I am using paths way more often than shapes, and I'm more used to the way Illustrator handles the shapes anyway
