This video shows the evolution of this image from concept to completion while highlighting key stages in the process. It represents many hours of work and perhaps a thousand individual edits.

The gloved hand that is reaching out to receive the stone was actually photographed from first-person perspective. It was then converted into a more illustrative style to match the overall aesthetic of the image.
