#Novice: How can i color fill a png empty image?

Now that you've cleared everything, it will depend if you masked it (the original background is still intact, but masked) or if you deleted it.
If you masked it, all you have to do is to paint back the masked area in white and place a white layer underneath it
like here, see how I place a solid colour adjustment layer beneath my masked layer, and all I need to do is to paint over the black are in the middle of my mask to reveal the white beneath
if you need it done on the layer where you deleted the background, you'll need to either paint directly on a blank layer placed underneath the line art layer where the white should be, or select the area and fill it with white
Bottom line: Masking is always better as you don't destroy your artwork...
