#Camera Raw bug?

I do photography as a hobby and I love to edit my photos, but since I got the newest version of Photoshop thanks to the affordable PS&LR Subscription I'm disappointed.
I always used the ** \ ** (toggle to default settings) option to quick compare the before and after. For some unknown to me reason using this option just erases my whole progress of editing and I can't switch back to the edited version. That's so frustrating to me, many times I pressed the short cut by accident due to muscle memory and I lost progress of like 1 hour of editing and fine tuning my image.

Am like dumb and overseeing something or was it changed? Also I know about Q to compare but I loved being able to quickly compare the before & after's without toggling between like 4 modes of it.

Update: I started to use lightroom and it works perfectly, I guess it was some kind of issue with Camera Raw built in Photoshop. Sometimes it worked sometimes not.

Thank your for help! 😄

The shortcut is still \ as far as I can tell.
Are you using the Camera Raw filter in Photoshop, or as a standalone app (for example by opening your files from Bridge)?

#

I just tested as a filter and \ works as intended, same with the standalone app...

There is no real history in ACR like there is in LrC, because it's not a fully fledged tool like PS or Lightroom are. Your only only recourse is to use snapshots to record intermediate states of the file (either in Photoshop or in ACR, but you got an history in photoshop anyway)

I don't know if your issue is a bug, but you'll probably better off using Lightroom (or Lightroom Classic, I can explain the differences) to retouch your images. It's like ACR, but as a whole program, not an "add-on" of sorts.

If you can reproduce your error on a test file, try to record it and see the good folks in the community forum, where you can file a bug report:

Could there be a modifier involved?
Which exact version of ACR are you using?
