Just now, I installed the latest Photoshop version (25.9.1) and all my previous settings, including my own workspace, personal brushes and keyboard shortcuts are gone. Generally, Photoshop asks me if I want to continue over my previous settings and i say yes, but this time it didnt ask. Is there ANY way to get everything back? please helppp 😦

Given your urgency, and my lack of knowledge in the area, I asked chatGPT.... it might be wrong but figured it was better than nothing?
Please let me know which, if any, of these work for you.
ok let me try
This was also a solution here:

I installed Photoshop 24.5 over the previous iteration this morning, and the result was a loss of all my settings. Actions, brushes, workspaces, etc are all gone. Some of these I've used for years and use daily. I'd very much like to get them restored. What is the quickest, best way to restore the...
for the solution to work, i need to have my previous versions installed as well. unfortunately i dont have this option selected
but the thing is in all my prev updates everything got automatically trasferred
to the new version
why it should not work this time is a mystery
- after going to presets what do i do? and all the presets are of the latest version only i think
Just as an aside. I always have a copy of my preferenecs, patterns, all the settings in a separate hard drive. It's usually un necessary until there is something wrong with one's computer. I don't update it every time, but I also don't tweak my workspace and prefs verry often. If the change is substential, I will create a copy (It will obviously help when I change my computer)
https://helpx.adobe.com/uk/photoshop/using/preset-migration.html
I also keep utilities in case the CC gets faulty (It happened once) because I don't want to search when I'm in a rush
see how it's organised for each main software (inside each folder are all the presets)
I also have all my drivers (except NVidia) copied elsewhere in that separate HD. Think Tablet, mouse, calibration device, printer, scanner)
My computer can burn to the ground 🙂
It's not helping you know, I know, but it could help you in the future.
see the link I share for the documentation...
okayyy
i did this migrating thing from 2023 version, but it didnt work, primarily because i dont even have the 2023 version at all
have YOU made the back up folder or is it automatically made every time?
No I have to manually do it
But as I said, my preferences don't change that much, it could be 3 versions down, that's OK
also i have already had this checked so idk why it didnt work
Sometimes sh*t happens, it happened to me once. I still don't know why, hence why I now have a back up
yes i will also maintain from now on
Maybe you don't have to be as silly as me (but I also have a lot of stuff like actions and scripts done for clients and it would be quite upsetting to lose them, financially), but keeping prefs and drivers from outdated devices (those you can't easily find online but still work) are a bare minimum.
yh 👍
interesting this is that it doesnt even recognise that there were any prev versions available
What is most bizarre is that you don't have access to previous versions in the CC app
This is what I see when I click on the 3 dots in the "app" section for Photoshop
"otherversions"
and all the versions I have access to
I have these all, but not on my desktop
Should I reinstall them?
But somehow I don’t think they will bring back all my settings and brushes and stuff
I would reinstall the one you had previously (You can run two versions at the same time)
There are chances that your preferences are on your computer but in a specific folder from your old version that the new version can't access (Don't ask me why 🙂 )
You may be able to access them again with the old version. Worth a try at least!
Yep will do that
you said two versions can run at a time?
but i get this
this means that the previous version must be around somewhere?
also, if photoshop deletes the previous version, it would be there somewhere in the recycle bin? but i cant find it at all
It could have deleted the .exe and the adjacent files, but not preferences. They are usually in hidden files anyway.
Sorry I am not THAT technical as to know how and why it happens!
ohk
Sorry, I mixed that with a Beta and a released verion.
My bad.
What you can do is install the old one, save all your preferences, uninstall and reinstall the new version
Just in case, this is what I got on my PC
okkk lemme try
I need to go anyway, I'll let you try. You can't break anything by the way... so test it yourself
yup thx
First, check if you have these folders on your computer (see the path I shared earlier)
All your presets should be there (but refer to the help files for better support)
yup i do have all that
but of the new version only
nvm im manually bringing back everything
wait a weird thing happened
i installed the old version, found out it didnt have all the stuff, and so i reinstalled the new one after restarting my pc
and now
i have my workspace back
but not the brushes and shortcuts
but in the worksapces thing on my pc, it doesnt show it
but in ps it does
the main thing im really gonna miss is my fonts that i had favourited, cuz rn i have hundreds of fonts and i dont remember their names
