i tried to use a solid color layer with the "color" blending mode, but the result wasnt even similar, any ideas?

The desired coloured effect you want depends on the color you selected from the solid colour adjustment layer and not only the color blending mode. Try selecting colours with moderate saturation then try different blending modes to get your desired result

You can use Layer Style and build up the effect in serval layers I use Layer Styles presets from https://www.brusheezy.com
I have done this effect with use of only Layer Style

On Phone:

1. Open the Photo in Photoshop Express:

   • Launch the Photoshop Express app and load the photo you want to edit.

2. Access the Split Tone Tool:

   • Go to the 'Looks' or 'Edit' section (depending on the app version).
   • Find and select the 'Split Tone' option.

3. Adjust the Split Tone Sliders:

   • There will be sliders for 'Highlights' and 'Shadows'.
