I know I dont know much about photoshop but if someone could just tell me what its called.

I need to change the colour of that logo, to say, red.

It really depends what type of image this is, as in the file format (is it a PNG, a JPEG, a vector format like .eps, .svg or .ai?
because some methods will depneds on the kind of images.

For a quick colour change: you can try the "Hue/Saturation" adjustment layer, and move the Hue slider.

If you're really a beginner, you can try learning through the Hands-on tutorials
Go to help> hands-on tutorials and type what you want to do in the search box
