I'm currently doing the same thing for The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show

did you use gradient maps for the colorization?

#

btw I recommend using palette.fm ai for the base of colorization

generally when i colour photos i use a mix of Solid Colour layers with normal layers
but when it comefs to clothing, i used gradient maps with colours from reference images

colourising the first frame manually makes much better results than full ai

I feel like palette ai would do a better job on the vest cause its really hard to capture that kind of look manually tbh

btw what is darkexmplar?

#

never heard of it

or blend if?

#

they're both very helpful

#

i used to have multiple solid colour layers per thing, ranging in shade, then i would use blend if - a bit like a gradient map
but now i use Select > Colour Range, select whatever i want like the shadows, and make a black colour layer set to Colour blending modes

it's a very good AI colouriser, it's quite hard to get set up because the installation takes ages - it's available on git hub
there is a website which hosts a demo but it takes a while to load anything

you can either colourise one frame, and make it match the rest which is what i did for the elvis video

or you can provide it multiple references and it tries to match it for each one

#

oh it didnt embed

#

i'm not too happy with the skin so i might re do it, this is still quite early on so by the end once i've made all my adjustments it could turn out well

anything doesnt reslly look good in this one

#
