Pretty cool, Ellis.
Thanks!
I'm currently doing the same thing for The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show
wow cool not horrible
did you use gradient maps for the colorization?
btw I recommend using palette.fm ai for the base of colorization
in some parts, yes
generally when i colour photos i use a mix of Solid Colour layers with normal layers
but when it comefs to clothing, i used gradient maps with colours from reference images
thank you
colourising the first frame manually makes much better results than full ai
use gradient maps for everything cause otherwise the solid colors mess up the light values
I feel like palette ai would do a better job on the vest cause its really hard to capture that kind of look manually tbh
yep
btw what is darkexmplar?
never heard of it
i just tried it and it made it a mix of blue and grey unfortunately
have you ever tried colour range?
or blend if?
they're both very helpful
i used to have multiple solid colour layers per thing, ranging in shade, then i would use blend if - a bit like a gradient map
but now i use Select > Colour Range, select whatever i want like the shadows, and make a black colour layer set to Colour blending modes
it's a very good AI colouriser, it's quite hard to get set up because the installation takes ages - it's available on git hub
there is a website which hosts a demo but it takes a while to load anything
you can either colourise one frame, and make it match the rest which is what i did for the elvis video
or you can provide it multiple references and it tries to match it for each one
here's some Beatles ones that i'm working on
oh it didnt embed
i'm not too happy with the skin so i might re do it, this is still quite early on so by the end once i've made all my adjustments it could turn out well
interesting
yeah the skin doesnt look good
anything doesnt reslly look good in this one
and the color leaks everyehere there is not much detail 😦
mhm
John's clip is quite good
teeth stay white
his lips go to skin tones straight away though - i definitely made them red
i think the hair and microphone worked well in john's clip, but everything else i'll have to redo at some point
