@eternal mica The text is not very easy to read on the busy background (which is probably why you chose to make some of it white and some of it black)
I would suggest to do something like Kathleen did, to separate the text from the image itself (side by side) or maybe use a transparent rectangle behind the text to give it a darker and more solid background to make it more legible. Something like this (ignore the text, just thought it was a great example):

All the colors match really well, although it would have been nice to have the textbox centered in the image so it takes precedent over the image. Usually, when we move important content (especially text) to the side to make sure the objects in an image are fully visible, the viewer will think that the image is therefore more important. Just a thought ;)

Beautiful work @wary swan I like that on version 2 the typeface has nice readability. The colors of the text and the background contrasts really nicely as well. My only suggestion would be to position the Adobe Logo and the MAX Attendee a little bit more to the left, so it won't touch the edges of the gradient rectangle from the right, giving more breathing room. Great works this week! 🙂

Awesome posters @simple dagger I loved the high contrast of the subject on the Poster 2, it avoids it to blend to the gradient from the background. The brush strokes also add a nice touch to the composition. Also, the colorful subjects on version 3 look pretty cool, it was a great way to bring a focal point. Excellent work!

I also really like how the color of the dashed brush strokes on the background almost kind of look like light landing on the background colors. The figure stands out really nicely against the background as well 👍

@wary swan Nice colors and gradients in the quote design. I really like the colors and patterns from the image you chose for this design, it makes for a nice eye-catching element. This is a tiny nitpick, but I feel like how close "Attendee" and the Adobe logo are to the shape to the right of it, and how close the dash symbol before "MAX" is to the left edge of the image feels a bit cramped. Maybe a bit more buffer room might balance it out. Really nice work!

@deep mango Very cool, I love what you did with the masking of the shapes and making it look like you're interacting with them in the photo. The shapes have a nice cohesive color palette and balance to them. It could even be a nice little touch to add a subtle shadow on the pearlescent shape under your hands. Looks good!

@eternal mica Very nice Ted, the colors in this design are looking really nice and cohesive. A couple smaller suggestions are that I think making the name of the person quoted smaller than the rest of the text might help separate it from the rest of the quote a bit more. It also might help to turn up the brightness of the yellow text a touch so it has more contrast against the orange of the tree, or even giving the text a subtle drop shadow could do the same job. Nice work!

If I had any suggestion it might be giving the photo a bit of editing to balance out the portrait that's in shadow with the really light background to give the face a little bit more brightness and balance out the image. Looks good! Definitely gives me an album cover vibe.

It's a minor nitpick, but if you need to clean up complex/softer edges around the bird the Refine Edge Brush tool within the Quick Selection tool can be great for that. The overlapping shapes add some nice depth, looks good!

That's very nice, @ruby panther! I like the font choice and how you managed the readability, especially for the author's name. Sometimes it's really tricky to deal with thin and light fonts weights in social media, but I believe this fits very well because of the dark area where it's positioned. Great job, Shawn! 🙂

Very nice work balancing the colors @queen dew! I like how the low saturated yellow contrast well against the background and how the images fit the context of the quote. My only suggestion would be that if you want to create some contrast between the fonts, you might change the typeface for the Einstein, so you'll enhance the hierarchy of the texts, allowing the viewers to differentiate even more what is the quote and the author by just looking at it. Great job!

Great job with the template, @night venture! I loved how there is a nice reading flow among the words. My only suggestion would be to change the alignment of the text from the top from the center to left-aligned. This way the design will have a stronger alignment making it look even more balanced. You can also position the words with fewer letters in the same line (like the "is" and "not), this way you'll be able to increase the quote scale a little more as well. Well done!

Awesome poster, @winter tinsel! I loved the colors and the textures of the shapes from the background. The text also has a nice amount of contrast, and the subject worked out great as the main focal point. The masking is looking very solid as well. My only suggestion would be to fine-tune the halos around the hair edges. For that, you might try the decontaminate colors from the Select & Mask workspace or with a new layer clipped to the subject's, sample a color tone of the hair, and with the soft brush and low flow, start painting on the hair edges. Let me know if you need any help. Great job! 🙂

Catching up on the poster a day challenge, trying to do them quick and without too much thinking. This was a fun one! I tried to add different font/text layouts as that is an area I am less comfortable in. Any feed back welcome.
Now that I look at them fresh- maybe all the subjects are a little too dark and stand out a little much from the background / shapes colors? Perhaps that is the look. Or maybe there is a way to integrate them better with a filter or something.

Ready for Max Poster 3 (Revised) @coral stone I remasked the hair and decontaminated the color but I’m afraid my original image was already edited and has some feathering around the hair which makes it tough to mask cleanly. If you have any good tutorials on hair masking, I’d love to see them. 😊 Otherwise, I just played with the design a bit.

Hey @winter tinsel, The hair is blending so much more now and feels even more natural! Here are three of my favorites hair tutorials, of course, that all depends on the image you have, but you can combine the techniques to see which gives you a nice result. The one from PHLEARN is very similar to the subject's hair from your poster. Let me know if you have any questions. 🙂

The only nitpick I have is that I wonder if it might be better to not have the logo covering her head. I feel like her being covered almost kind of removes her as the focus/subject of the image. @winter tinsel This is Poster 3 design is looking great! Really nice focus on the main figure, especially with the color contrast, and the colors, shapes, and textures of the background still add a lot of nice interest. The edits to the updated image are looking good. Sometime I like to fine tune the contrast and lighting of the hair with a Multiply layer for shadows/dark tones and a Color Dodge layer to add light. The multiply layer can help bring in a bit of dark tones to better match the contrast of the rest of the hair. I tend to do all this with a soft brush on a clipping mask just to fine tune where I see fit. Nicely done!

@spark ledge Really nice job on these posters! They all have a nice unique visual look to them. I think the contrast on the figuring is looking quite nice. Though on the middle design with the skateboard perhaps boosting the brights a touch on the skater could look good, and it might be nice to push the contrast between the text and background a bit more. The pearlescent shape and text are a similar value to the background, so adjusting the brightness of one of them might help, or even adding a subtle drop shadow to them could give it a bit more pop. Well done!

@oak mist These are excellent! Great use of shapes and textures in this, I especially like how you really pushed the depth by layering the elements with a sort of background, midground, and foreground shape as well as adding shadows to push that look even more. Nicely done!

@misty compass Really nice use of color and contrast in these poster designs! The color contrast on the first design works really well and the value contrast on the second design adds some nice focus. The textures in both of these are looking really good too. Nice work!

@tribal trench Great texture in this design! The color gradient is looking really nice as well. I feel like you could probably push the contrast in the portrait even further by boosting both the dark and light tones with a Levels or Curves adjustment. Really nice portrait!

@misty compass Nice job with the color contrast in this design! The purple has a nice balance with the elements at both the top and bottom. I feel like the face could use a little more contrast overall by boosting the darks and lights with a levels or curves adjustment. The bottom of the hair has the deepest darks and contrast right now but it’d be nice to see it more around the face and top of the hair, especially the eyes. A masked adjustment layer with a soft brush would work nicely if you need to apply it to a specific section only. Looks good!

@jolly kite Very cool! The ghostly effect with the red ghosts coming out of the top window is looking good. I like how you varied the size to give it a nice sense of depth. My only suggestion would be to tweak the values of the scene to make it more readable, currently everything aside from the moon and ghosts kind of blend into darkness. Especially separating the silhouette of the barn from the sky and background would help quite a bit. Brightening both those areas up a touch might help give them a bit more visibility overall. Nice job!

@vast jasper That’s great to hear! This came out very nicely. The particle effects are looking really nice, very cool effect. It might be nice to see a bit of a gradient in the background instead of a flat color to add a touch more depth, but that’s totally personal preference. Well done!

Though I think if you’re going to add the backing shape it might help to make it a bit more apparent or remove it completely because as it is it kind of looks like an artifact from the image rather than a n intentional design choice. Personally I think a warm sort of yellow shape with a bit more visibility might look good on this image. I like the quote and font choice, nice work!

@safe linden Really nice effect with the color border/outline! The outline and texture is looking good. I think you could probably boost the brightness of the actual portrait a bit to give the whole thing a bit more pop and contrast and balance out the intensity of the red a bit. Nice job 👍

@safe linden Nice work with the Poster 1 design, the pearlescent shape gives the silhouette a nice read. Perhaps you could make the flat background color a subtle gradient that is slightly brighter at the bottom to pop out the silhouette of the legs a little more. It might also help to clean up the mask of the silhouette to make the edges a bit sharper. I remember Jesus showing some good techniques for this on a previous Re-Work It segment at the 24:50 mark. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wAxJkDCc6c&t=1490s

@bleak fossil Thanks for response! Yes, I viewed the live keynote then every time I try to join after that I get the error message. Then I was able to reach the live again, but my schedule and favorites that I had created are all gone- even though I am logged in. One moment I am able to view the session and the next I am not, and I keep getting the error message. I guess others are having issues too, and not just me!
UPDATE- I see they have a message saying the traffic is high and scheduler, login, chat, etc may not be available! This is my first time so I wasnt sure if I was missing something. Just super high traffic, so I will do my best to join what I can!

Great color choice @soft shale! I loved how you played with the diagonal lines on the background. The circle with the gradient also helps the subject stand out without losing contrast. Nicely done!

@hollow nimbus I loved the stylized 3D letters, the curvy extrusion helps to establish a nice sense of movement to the poster and matches very well the shape behind the subject. The overlaps and the shadows were a great way to make he stand out and create depth. Great job!

@oak mist These are great! I love the mask mockup and the designs are looking really solid. The alternating direction works great for the patterning and the style looks great. The simple shapes with the sprinkle and cone texture work very well.
The quote challenge came out very nicely as well. I really like the balance of the text sizing and style. The texture on the text and background adds a lot of interest!

A few suggestions might be to clean up the white halo around the hair on the left side, move the graphic lines over on the right side so they don't create a tangent with the silhouette of the hair, and maybe even give the whole image a bit of a contrast boost to really make it pop. Really nice design, love the expression too, hah.

@safe flint Very nice design! I like the simple bold shapes and colors in this one. My only suggestion is I think for a design like this it can often be good to try and stick to just a few colors. 2-3 or so. There's already a good variety in type styles and sizes, and unifying the color palette a bit is a good way to make everything look cohesive. I think maybe simplifying it to one shade of blue, one shade of green, and maybe orange in place of the red and yellow might be good. Or using the red or yellow to replace the orange perhaps. Just an idea. Really nice job with the text variation!

@oak mist Looks great! The planet and starry background have a lot of depth and great texture. The gradient shape breaks up the background and highlights the figure nicely. Though I feel like the figure could use a bit more contrast to better match the rest of the image. Perhaps by pushing both the dark tones and boosting the lights. I think it could look good to add a bit of shadow to her body and cool light to the top of her to push the contrast while also matching the lighting of the planet. I like to use a multiply layer for shadows and color dodge for lights. Maybe something like this? Really nice work on the drop shadow underneath her by the way!

@safe flint Great designs! I like the alternating orientation of the smiley faces. Nice variety of designs for the smiley face idea too. This is a small detail, but I think if you colorized the horizontal lines on the bottom design to be a darker yellow/orange tone instead of gray it would push the yellow smiley face feel more and read less like yellow lined notepad paper, which was my first impression at a glance. Nice job on these!

@oak mist Looks great! The different rate of animation for the various elements gives it a really nice look. I like the slight twist in the logo as it zooms in and out which adds a bit of extra interest. The graphics have a really clean read to them and the smoothness of the animation looks great. Nice work!

@queen aspen Challenge 2 looks excellent! I love the colors in the first design with the clouds. Especially how a little bit of the pink of the dress shows through and the spots of the cloud illuminated by yellow light. Gives it a really nice translucent feel and fits it nicely into the lighting of the scene. Very nice compositing work. The wall design looks great too. Loving the shapes and sort of classic pop art feel it has. Really liking the texture as well, nicely done!

@queen dew Looking good! Nice job compositing these different elements together, and the drop shadows are looking nice. I feel like the cloud around the body could perhaps use a slight boost of light to match the hard lighting of the figure, but that's a bit of a nitpick. Really cool texture and color for the background, it contrasts nicely with the blue of the cloud. 👍

@dusky wave Great colors! I like the sort of black light/neon look. There seems to be a subtle drop shadow under the text which is a really nice touch to add some depth. I like how the text at the bottom is more subdued to not distract from the title text but I feel like it might be nice to give it some more color to make it fit in with the rest of the design more. Looks good!

@pliant comet Hah, we can always count on you for the good cat images/puns. I really like the stark red color in this image and how you repeated the color from the curtains into the text. I kind of feel like giving the image a darker blueish tint like a night scene might fit the whole spooky text more. Nice work 😄

@wary swan Really cool idea and design for this poster 5 challenge! The photo panels pop out really nicely from the darker purple background. This is a bit of a nitpick, but I feel like the panels seem a bit small in the scene, as if you could scale them up a bit to fill the frame a touch more and not have so much blank space around the bottom half of the image. Seems like it could balance out the visual weight of the image more. Or even just moving the text up a touch so it isn't right against the bottom of the frame. Just an idea. Great work with the reflection!

Very nice design @eager shale! I loved the colors and the glow that you added. My only suggestion would be to reduce the spread of the drop shadow just to make the gradient fill on the letter to stand out more, especially on the letters of the dates. Well done!

You’ve got some great color combinations in your cover, @chrome basalt! I loved the textures that came out really great in your cover, either the ones of the text or the background as well. The tilted texts also give a cool personality touch to the overall composition. A very minor nitpick I’d have, would be to adjust the kerning (space between the letters) between the H and U from the word Hunter. For that, you might position the text cursor between these letters and then with alt (win) or option (Mac) press the left arrow key until it matches the spacings from the other letters. Great job, Gus! Can’t wait to see your next works 😄

Hey @livid badger! The effort was totally worth it! I really like your color choices. My only suggestion would be to adjust the readability of the text from the bottom, maybe increasing the size and changing the color might help already. About the textures on the libraries, try this: Select the texture layers > Click on the plus icon on the bottom area > Choose Graphic. This will add the texture to the library you have selected on the drop-down menu. Let me know if you need any help. Great job!

The only small nitpick I might have would be to match the contrast of the monster on the left with the trees around him so they look like they fit into the same scene more. @coral cloak I really like the consistent color scheme to this cover design! Great icy feel to it. Great texture in the text, looks like it's a blending mode that shows a bit of the tree texture through it? Very nice. My only suggestion would maybe be to boost the bright tones with a levels adjustment just a bit as the whole image seems a touch dark at the moment. Nice work!

@covert loom Really great layering and textures in this! It adds a nice sense of depth the the image and the white texture contrasts nicely against the background. Looks good!

@ruby panther Loving the smoky text effect! The grain adds a nice spooky/gritty feel to it too. It could be nice to add a touch more blue saturation to the bottom text to tie it in with the title text a little more. Very nice work!

@elfin thorn Very nice, I like the sense of dimension on the yellow title text! The drop shadow adds a nice sense of depth too, it could be nice to add a bit to the yellow text as well to tie it all together in the same scene. Nice job!

@mortal crescent your cover is looking really nice, Key! I loved the way you managed the contrast and how the red eyes of the monster make it stand out even though it’s the nearby areas are subtle. The text is looking great as well, the drop shadow was a very good choice to make it pop. Challenge 1 is looking very cool as well. Loved the skull illustrations that you used to display the color palette. Well done!

@obtuse fulcrum. Wow, great job! The foggy atmosphere really adds that spooky style to the image, especially the way that it suits very well with the typeface and the trees from the background. Nicely done!

@oak mist loved your works, Mykala! The way that you overlapped the squids among the images added a cool visual interest for the moodboard and the cover as well. The typeface looks very on point either on the moodboard or the cover, and I like the way that you added two color groups, this helps to give you more options to create more contrast in future works. @limpid cape awesome cover, Brad! I loved the texture that you applied to the background, the trees are also blending very nicely with it. Great job managing the contrast, especially for the white and the glow for the DCC, and the way that they kept the red tones vibrant without making the whole cover to look busy. Moodboard turned out great as well, the images, the colors, and the fonts came out together really nicely. Very well done!

@lucid plover great moodboard, Fery! I live the way that you grouped the colors, makes me very curious to find out what Indonesian Horror is 😄 The typefaces also offer a nice variety of styles to play without losing the mood of the compositions. I really like that your moodboard has a strong alignment, my only suggestion would that if you want to even the space among the color squares, you might select all of them and use the distribution options under the top bar, I believe that it would be the 8th icon with the vertical rectangle (you need to have the move tool enabled to make it work), but that’s just a very very minor nitpick. Great job, Fery! 🙂

Welcome on board, @young karma! I loved the fonts that you chose for the moodboard. The colors are looking very nice as well, I like that you included a brown tone just to break the blue tones. This will be great for adding contrast to the future works, if you want, you might add another color tone present from the images so the contrast won't rely just on the brown color. Well done!

@coral stone Thanks Valdair. Im not sure what I might do with that background image. Its sort of a panorama, so I couldnt figure how to display it in the artboard. idont know if it can be useful down the road. And, like you said, it made a cool backdrop, so I threw it in.

@digital pike super cool moodboard! I like the variety of image that you chose as well as the colors and the fonts. My only suggestion would be that if you want, you might add some oranges, blues, and greens colors from the images to the color palette, you might replace some of the similar pink tones to add them. Just an idea. Good job!

@rocky kite the background and the typefaces are looking very good! I like the textures from the red text as well, the way that it blends to the graphic from the background creating some yellow tones makes it look very interesting. My only suggestion would be to darken the background just a touch and brighten the text so the they might be able to stand out a bit more. It doesn’t need to be very much, so the blending effect won’t be lost. Well done!

Great job on your moodboard, @sweet fern! I loved that you grouped the colors to easily identify which are for the monsters and which are for the zombies. My only suggestion would be to desaturate the Monster’s colors a touch, just to match the figures that you brought on the top left, since none of them has a vibrant color, some low saturated tones would enhance that look for them. The typeface and the images are looking very consistent as well. 🙂

My only suggestion would be to fine-tune the two last squares from the first and the second group, right now they are very similar which makes them almost blend 100%. Maybe adding a new color tone will help with that. 🙂 Very well done!

Also I like the different images that you used, and how they seem to have something in common, maybe because of the empty spaces with no people showing, except for the second one. @mortal crescent I like the spooky face in this one! Really nice wispy texture in the background too. I feel like this image could probably use a little brightness in the text to give the image a bit of a stronger focal point. Might help the whole image pop a bit more. Cool effect with the ghostly face!

@fringe sun Looks good! I like how the face is kind of a secondary read, it gives it a creepy/mysterious sort of look to it. The grain texture really helps push that feeling too. The title text does look a bit techy/sci fi to me, I’m not sure if that’s what you were going for. Since the warped text and rest of the image feels a bit more spooky/horror. Then again movies like The Thing kind of fit both of those genres and maybe that’s what you wanted. The design looks good!

@obtuse fulcrum Looking good! Hah, it's all about practice, though it's much easier if you have a tablet. If not the pen tool can always be a great way to get clean graphic lines while still using a mouse. I really like the sort of misty spooky look of this design. The text is looking good as well. 👍

Hey @coral cloak same with me. I know what you expecting about your moodboard. I tried yesterday's video but it also gives the single doc without section. So, i think the best way is, to use single artboard and place 3 shapes (rect, square etc)and contents in it and export. It will give result as we are expecting. I hope this will help.

@chilly hawk! Very nice and balanced moodboard, Cecilia! I really like the way that the images help to tell a story, suggesting kind of an adventurous and mysterious theme for the challenge. The typefaces are looking very on point as well, my only minor nitpick would be that since you have three sans serif fonts, you might choose one or two just to help to contrast with the other ones. Since they are very similar, it will be a little tricky to keep consistency. Well done!

DCC Day 1 - Monster Hunter Mood Board : Nothing scares me more than the deep ocean so I decided to use that as my monster theme inspo for this challenge.

@haughty estuary beautiful logo! The glow and the font worked out really nicely. My only suggestion would be to brighten the right shade of the moon just to make the word hunter stand out a little more, just like the Monster, helping to improve the readability of it. 😉 Awesome job with the blood, it adds a nice visual interest for the logo. 💯

@idle ember lovely moodboard! The fonts really match every style from the images, as Coquette combines with the binoculars, Newcomen with the owl, and so on and so forth. The colors are looking very solid as well, it might be cool if you added some dark tones, just in case if you wanted to add a dark atmosphere. Great job!

@fresh swallow this is super cool! I like the way that you played with the first letters, giving them a different color but keeping the same font. The colors and the contrast are looking very solid as well. My only minor nitpick would be that the gear icon looks a bit stretched vertically, you can easily manage it by adjusting the scale with the free transform. If that's the look you were going for, of course 😉 Great job!

@neat shale very nice moodboard, Christina! Loved that you included the size of the font, it will be a great guide to keep the scale of the text consistent throughout the next challenge days. The variety of colors are looking super cool as well, I like the way that you created a sequence according to the brightness. The images also show clearly the theme for the moodboard. Nicely done!

@dusky wave super cool works! I like the variety of logos that you created. The different fill for the ones from the top also adds that cool personality to the whole design. My only suggestion would be that the first logo might not have enough contrast with lighter backgrounds. Whenever you need to apply it, make sure that the background is darker than it, so it will stand out and have nice readability for both the icon and the words. Nice work!

@strong lake this turned out super cool! The way that you played with the shapes created a unique look for the logo. My only suggestion would be to apply the same tone or keep the flat blue, or even the gradient instead of black for the element from the middle. This will help you to unify the overall look of the logo and bring more consistency as well. Great job

@mortal crescent Loved that you played with type on a path! The strokes and the colors are looking very solid as well. My only suggestion would be to place the Monster word behind the horns, so the graphic might be able to stand out a little more and creating some overlaps. Well done!

@unreal wadi hah no problem Kenny! I like the way that you played with the elements and built a sword. The blood also adds a nice context to the theme, and the way that you let the background appear helps to unify the scene. This is just an idea but I think that if you add a dark background, or even a dark image, and maybe changing the black strokes to a brighter color would add more context to your logo because it would give an idea of a night atmosphere enhancing the monster context. Just an idea, nicely done! 🙂

I loved your cover @nocturne vigil! The font pairing fits very well the monster context and the strong let alignment helps balance the elements. The position is looking very on point as well, letting the hall to appear without any distractions. The cover also looks very cohesive to your moodboard, which is great for bringing consistency through the works. Amazing works!

This turned out awesome, @acoustic sageter! I loved that you added a background for the spooky context. The textures and the colors are looking amazing. Each shape has balanced tones allowing you to control the visual hierarchy of the elements very nicely. Excellent work!

How cute your squirrel is, @mossy socket! I loved how you played with some negative space giving a white stroke to the shapes. My only suggestion would be to darken the circle behind him just a touch, so you’ll be able to separate the parts in the front from the background, especially the blue version. Great attention to the details, especially with the nails. The frame and the typefaces are looking great as well. 💯

@young karma super cool logo, the script typeface really matches the context that the ribbon brought. The only thought I have would be to brighten the color of the stroke in the middle inside the hexagon’s stroke, you can apply that bright blue color behind the alien. This way it will be easily identifiable by the viewer, just an idea 😄 I loved the poster that you created, especially the textures. If you played with 3D for the Monster Hunter you might reduce the extrusion a touch or maybe brighten the red tone of the letters just to increase the readability of the word. Well done!

@digital pike this is looking very nice, Gerard! Using some fonts from the moodboard makes the whole design to feel very consistent. Great idea adding the rounded rectangles for the teeth. The pen tool also brought some cool strokes for the skull. Well done!

The color tones also have that atmosphere present among the images and I like how the fonts offer a nice variety of moments that you might explore, especially Mr. Darcy and Backspacer. Great job!

I like how you explored the monster theme and even added some textures and silhouettes, the forest images also makes me wonder if that’s the place where the monster lives or hunts. Question! I added the Saber font to my fonts, and though it shows up in the drop down menu as it should appear, when I type with it it's a completely different font. Can anyone tell me why??

@weary palm Great collection of images! The color pallets all fit together nicely with the muted tones and little pops of red and green. Definitely has a creepy and cohesive look to it. The colors you choose seem to fit it nicely and the fonts are looking good too. Nice job!

@simple idol Nice collection of images and colors here! I like the sort of complementary contrast you have going with the reds and greens. It might help it add a more neutral tone for the background to give all the colors a more balanced appearance. Sometimes when you have a white background it almost makes everything look vibrant or dark by default. Nice job!

@young karma Looking good! Great textures in the image in the background. I think it might look nice to keep "The" and "Chronicles" as the same font for consistency, and maybe making the "Monster Hunter" text a bit bigger (even putting it into two separate lines if need be) and brightening it up would help it read easier and be more clear as a title text. Just some ideas of course. Great colors in this design too, nice work!

@coral cloak I like the bold color contrast on this one! Though I think making it so the deer has more of a clear outline might help the whole thing read a bit better. I also noticed the readability isn't as strong as it could be because the values of the different colors all seem fairly close together. If you're going to go with a light orange background it might help to make both the deer and title text a darker blue color to give the whole image a bit more contrast. Looking good 👍

Really cool to see how far you explored font ideas too, they all seem to have a good fit with the creepy vibe of this mood board. This is all looking really good, great to see how far you pushed each area. Nice job!

@pliant comet Hah, great addition with the animated version. I really like the classic clean styling of the whole design with the font and eyes. Makes it seem like some upscale monster hunting service. This is a bit of a nitpick but I feel like there could be a touch more buffer room between the border square and the rest of the design/text. Very nice job!

@young karma Really cool visual effect on these designs! I especially like the colors of the first one. Looks like it could be an album cover. For the second one it might help to pick a color that shows up over both the yellow and black background. Maybe even just giving the text a white stroke could work. Nice work on these!

@fresh swallow I like your repetition of the blue color in this design, it gives the color scheme a nice uniformity. The graphic shapes for the logo are looking good as well. I like the parchment background texture too. This is totally personal preference but it could be cool to see a rustic texture masked over all the black graphics to make them a deep dark sort of rustic color instead of black so they still contrast nicely with the background but fit the color scheme and theme a bit more. Just an idea. Very nice design!

@compact pecan Looking good! I like the texture you have going on in this image. Hah, nothing like busting out the Latin for a classic horror feel. Very cool design. My only suggestion would be to maybe choose a bit bolder of a font for the bottom text to help the readability a bit, but that might be tricky with the perspective warp either way. Nice job on the text warp with that by the way. It could also be nice to boost the brightness of the skull a little bit to balance out the text. Nice job!

@distant musk Really great texture in this potion challenge! The bubbles and everything are looking great and I love how much you separated the surface of the liquid to have different lighting and texture to give it a realistic look. That's very fancy, @ruby panther! Loved the pattern in the background, the liquid also has a nice movement and the blood drop was a great idea. You also achieved a great sense of balance by playing with warp for the text and letting the bottom one straight. Excellent work!

@neat shale This is great, I love the sense of depth and realism you got with the lighting and perspective. This definitely looks like a convincing debossed effect in a hard leather/synthetic surface. The texture looks great and the darker color within the shapes and text give it a really clear read. Lighting is on point, impressive work!

@fluid wharf Nice job putting these together, I'm liking the photos you chose! The blue and grey tones seem to fit in nicely with what you chose for the color palette, though I think adding in the red/pink from the picture with the lighting might help it match the photos a bit more as well as adding a warmer tone to contrast the cooler blues/greens. The font choices are looking good too, I especially like the center one. Nice job!

@magic wagon Really cool logo design! I like the simple shapes with a bit of an overlapping feel. The dark blue background gives it a sort of professional look but the lighter aqua color for the text adds a little bit of that supernatural feel which fits nicely. Nice job with all these shapes in this!

@thorn geyser this is super cool! I loved the texture on the photo edges and the typeface you chose for the year, and the name. This is just a personal preference that you can try to see if you like, but if you want to enhance the aged look, you might brighten the shadows just a touch more, you can easily do that with a levels or curves adjustment layer. Awesome job, Vylaris!

Nice edits, @haughty estuary . The warm tones and the grain really gives that aged look to the photo. My only suggestion would be to maybe reduce the inner shadow on the photo edges or even brighten them, to create the impression that the photo has faded because of time. Just an idea. Great job!

The only thought I have, would be that if you want to enhance the aged look, you might reduce the saturation of the colors and maybe add some grain, you can easily do that by using the Lightroom or the Camera Raw Filter sliders 🙂 Nicely done!

Welcome, @urban sedge! That's a great start! I like how the images and the colors have that adventurous atmosphere in them. You did a very nice job playing with different saturations of the colors, this will help you to balance even more your future works. My only consideration would be bringing a secondary typeface, maybe a sans serif might be nice, so you'll be able to create a font contrast and if you needed to have a body copy or some additional information, the readability of the text would be on point. 😉 Excellent work!

My only minor nitpick would be to increase the sizes of the fonts, so it might be more legible on the moodboard. You can use the color palette and the images as a reference for balancing the size. @young karma good business card! I like the colors you chose for the frame and how you positioned the information. My only comment would be to adjust the contrast of the text, at the moment yellow is a little difficult to read. To do this, you can play with the background color by darkening it or just illuminating the text in yellow. The aged photo worked amazingly! I like the low contrast you gave the image by lighting up the shadows. The sky and the grains are also incredible. Well done!

@dusky wave super cool image! I like that you brought some of the sky colors to the road and played with the new sky. My only suggestion would be that before applying the blur you might create a copy merged layer (press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+E) and convert it into a Smart Object. So Photoshop will interpret all the layers that you have in the document as just one and only then apply the blur. This way you won't have the gray halo on the tree edges, adding more realism to the composition. Let me know if you have any questions. Good job!

The only nitpick I’d have would be that you might reduce the glow from the dates, so it can easily be read. If you see that the text doesn’t have enough contrast, you can use the low saturated yellow from the polaroid to fill the text. Excellent work!

@sacred field great job with the sky replacement, it really looks like a storm is coming to the scene. My only suggestion would be that if you want to add a realistic touch, you might add some noise to the blurred areas, just to match the ones from the sharp areas. You can easily do that on the Tilt-Shift workspace. There’s a Noise panel on the bottom right area, you just need to choose Grain and increase the amount. Excellent work, Marc!

Question...I was playing around with the Shape Tool working on the Logo challenge. At first it was working as demonstrated in Val's video and then it suddenly started acting weird. It wouldn't let me click and drag anymore. It would great a set size shape outside of my canvas and would not allow me to change size or reposition. There must be some setting I inadvertently messed with????

@blazing quail This design has a really nice combination of effects that really sell that aged effect. The grain, blur, and light bleed effect work very nicely. Usually I'd suggest maybe fading the dark tones a touch for this effect but I think the other effects work quite nicely on their own. The stain texture at the top is a nice touch too!

@woven wind Looking great! I like how far you took this challenge with the background and theming, it really adds a lot to the images. The gritty texture and faded colors give it a lot of mood and add nicely to the aged effect. Great job on the compositing in this design!

@dusky swallow Very cool, I like how you tried out a few logo variations. The addition of some color in the second post does a nice job of adding a bit of mood and context to the design. I like it!

@sudden pumice Awesome, welcome in! Glad you could join us. That's totally okay, these challenges are great for picking up some techniques here and there, and you're always welcome to run with them and get creative if you want, or just follow along to learn the methods. This looks good! Nice job of the blur and gain, it's looking good. If you wanted to push it even further I think lightening the dark tones with a levels (by using the bottom set of sliders) or curves adjustment and giving it a slightly more sepia coloration (photo filters can be a quick an easy way to do this) are always a great way to get that aged look. Nicely done!

@young dome The Day 3 challenge is looking good! I really like the subtlety of the blur effect which gives it a nice natural look. The grain is looking good too, though I wonder if the date stamp in the corner could be a bit bigger? Of course that's more of a nitpick. Nice work!

@young karma This looks good! The grain and blur effect are looking solid, they're noticeable but not overly done to look unnatural. I like how it looks like you faded out the darker tones a bit which I think really helps with that aged look. Nicely done!

@compact pecan The texture effect is looking really good to sell that aged/damaged look. I feel like the value contrast might be a bit too bold to really make it look aged rather than just damaged. I think using a levels or curves adjustment to lighten the dark tones a bit, and/or even giving it a slightly sepia coloration is often a great way to push that aged photo effect. The timestamp is a nice touch too 👌

@sacred field Looking good Marc! The blur effect along with the grain is looking good. I think if you wanted to push the aged look even more, lightening the darks or adding a bit of an aged sepia color tint could look good too. Nice work!

@vocal berry The logo design is looking great! I really like the pop of red to make the logo stand out and how you chose the same red of the bottom text to give the whole thing a nice cohesive look. The background image fits the theme really well too!

My only minor suggestion would be that making the transition between the blurred and in focus area a bit more gradual might give it a more natural look. Very nice work!

@spare badge Loving this Day 2 design! The background texture and gradient give it a really grounded and realistic feel while the smooth, clean look of the logo contrasts the background very clearly. The colors are all looking very cohesive too. Nice work on all the graphic shapes!

@pliant comet Really nice job compositing these images together! I like how you kept part of the mountains from the sky image, it looks really natural. The blurred foreground rocks are a nice touch but the transition between blurred and in focus looks a bit abrupt around the center of the rocks on the right side. Also a side note, with the sky replacement you can always edit the mask after the fact if it needs any touching up. This is looking really good, nice job with the red from the sky reflecting in the water too!

@zenith mulch I really like the subtle light bleed effect you have around the bottom left corner. The grain effect is looking good as well to give it an aged look. If you wanted to push it further I feel like making the deepest dark tones slightly lighter to lessen the contrast and/or giving it a slight sepia coloration might further sell the effect. Thank you for your feedback people. Thank god for learning opportunities in times like these. It took forever for me to begin to understand and work with Ps and now it's slowly starting to get easier. I've been self isolating since February. If I didn't have stuff to work on I would go bonkers. I am living on a handicap pension so I am mostly just being alone anyway. I miss my adult children and my mother like crazy. Luckily I have got two dogs to keep me company.

@chilly hawk beautiful colors, Cecilia! I like how the logo has a nice sense of balance especially for the geometric look of the star and the spider web. The warped text is looking very solid too, and the red tone really gives a nice focal point to the composition. Well done!

@left abyss very nice work with the grain, Nicole! I like how it gave the whole photo a nice texture. If you want to push the aged look a little further, you might increase the temperature adding more warm tones and maybe brighten the shadows as well, just to give the impression that it has been damaged because of time. Great job! 🙂

@vestal flare super cool work with the textures, I think it worked out very nicely to the creepy atmosphere of the image! I like how the road and the shadows on both sides help to establish a focal point to the subject. Nicely done!

@wary swan the moodboards are built to give a look and feel for the works, usually, it's made for branding projects, giving the client and the designer a starting point for the project, guiding them until the final delivery, and helping them to achieve consistency. You can use a moodboard for almost everything you design in order to have a guide and to help you in each step of the project. 🙂

@ruby panther Awesome job, Shawn! Loved the consistent colors and the way that you added a reflection for the light. The blur is acting as a nice vignette for the composition helping the road to lead the viewer's eyes to the building in the middle. My only minor nitpick would be to desaturate the colors just a touch and maybe decrease the brightness of the sky and the building in the middle as well, this will help you to match the very dark tones from the front and enhance the night atmosphere. Excellent work!

@covert loom super cool moodboard, Mahedi! I loved the textures that you brought in your moodboard. The fonts also have a great contrast among them. The logo is looking very solid as well, the only thought I have would be to make sure that the applications of the logo will offer a nice contrast against the background, lighter logos might not behave very well when placed in lighter backgrounds, which is the case of the Monster Hunter in red. The graphic is looking very good and I like the symmetry look of it. The colors of day three are looking very cool. Great job!

@fresh helm wooow loved that you build a whole composition. The colors are looking very solid and the fog really helps them to blend in the scene. My thoughts would be to increase the size of the car just to match the scale of the subject, it might look even more realistic if you added some shadows to it as well. Another thing that you might try, would be to decrease the contrast of the ceiling a touch, so it won't catch more attention than the elements from the lower area. Awesome job!

@heavy ruin very nice mood board! I like your typeface choices and the color contrast among the images you have chosen. My thoughts would be to bring more of that grayscale tones to the color palette since you have these tones present on the images. You might also increase the size of the fonts a bit, just to appear a little more on the mood board, as a reference you might use the width of the color palette 🙂 Well done!

I loved the texture that you used for the background, @lucid plover! With the black, it creates a great contrast against the white texts. The logo also behaves really nicely and caught my attention when I first looked. My only suggestion would be to play with some hierarchy for the informations from behind. You might play with some font weights or even a different font to separate the information and its titles. This will help you to create some font contrast and allow the important informations to get more attention. Nicely done, Fery!

@elfin marten this turned out really cool! I like how the text fill has a subtle texture adding that grungy look to it. The background and the logo feel very balanced. This is just a personal preference but if you want, you might reduce the shadows opacity or even remove it, since you have a black stroke and white fill, the text has already an excellent contrast against the background. Just an idea 😉 Awesome work!

Your image has a very nice atmosphere, @mortal crescent! I loved how warm tones are predominant throughout your image. The textures are looking very on point as well, my suggestions would be that you might make the yellow stains and the brown ones the same color, so it might look even more consistent and realistic. @vestal flare Awesome work, Alexander I loved your color choice, the green stands out very nicely against the black background, it was a great decision for not making the thin strokes of the logo lose contrast. Great job playing with the font contrast as well, it really helps to establish a nice sense of hierarchy for the whole business card. My only minor nitpick would be to center all the elements of the front, right now they look a little bit to the left, this will help you to have a nice and strong alignment bringing even more balance to the design. Excellent job!

@heavy ruin just saw your logo and business card! I loved the 3D look of it and how you kept some monochromatic tones. The contrast looks very solid as well. Also, the type on a path was a very creative idea to display the informations, maybe increasing the font size a touch would help to increase the readability of it. 👍

@sacred field very nice work, Marc! I like how the business card feels balanced. Loved that you played with some flames, did you rendered them in Photoshop? It looks super cool! The font also worked out really well, especially for the Firestarter. My only suggestion would be to reduce the Specialties text just a touch, just to enhance the hierarchy of informations, allowing the text from the top and the logo to be seen first. Well done! 🙂

Beautiful textures, @safe flint! Loved the font contrast that you added to the back side. The colors are looking very consistent, which is a great way to make the viewers to remember you brand. Nicely done!
