Pros, it obviously makes for higher points, more chances for curbing the battle to your favor by taking our enemy’s in good positions,.
negative, players can cause it to become a slow bloodbath by using evasive actions and/or evading combat all together.

The 4 minutes in 1 round makes it get more higher points and to take more time to counter those campers. That's All I Can Say About The New Feature On The Tourney woah

the increase of the tournament time to 4 minutes is obviously a good thing:

it promotes team play as having more time means you can stand still for a bit and look around/assist the map on where you should go to gain advantages for you or your team, you also have more time to reposition yourself if cornered or hold an area longer till your team mates arrives.

it also discourage base/spawn mortar camping as the longer time makes it easier for the team to wipe out the forwarding team mates of the mortar camper making them blind and on a 1 vs many situation.

finally as the time is lengthened you'll have more time to gather kills to increase your score, no more rushing in to get more kills ending up in bad position, now you can chill and snipe to your hearts content.

Pros
4 minutes in one round means more time to act, hence better strategy would be required for pilots as everyone has to fight for additional 2 minutes. The additional time would make it difficult for rm campers and many setups such as la, railgun16 that takes long time to reload would become viable. In 5 vs 5 matches teams can take more tactical decision s to counter opponent teams.

Cons:
As per developers of the game, ma is intended to be a quick game for people who are busy. In tournaments every player plays at least 30-40 matches to get in top 3. Extending the game length by an additional 2 minutes would turn off people who are looking for a quick match to relax.

Only 1 Pros i See:
People on killing side can earn more points through 1 ticket each. match.
1 Cons:
People on getting killed on other side will suffer for 2mins more when they could have ended the match and began the next one.
Overall Benefit:-
Number of kills per round/match can be increased a lot which will increase the highest damages by a lot and tourney points push will be much easier but higher compared to 2mins.

The increase in duration of a match is obviously a good thing and its awesome when you are like playing with friends. The increase in time for tourneys is a very good update cuz one, you get more kills=more tourney points two, helps ppl like me to try new strats on ppl when you know they cant avoid you for a whole 4 mins three, i rlly love how plarium is kinda started toying with duration and i would like it if it can be applied for other things like cpc or added to tourneys more frequently
cons..? maybe if the oppies too think to use new stuff then that can get you into trouble and itll be an heaven for mortar spammers so thats that
||I genuinely wrote this so that i can get xp to get zephyr so yay||

Pros:
You can get more points per ticket as more kills
Cons:
If you want to play a quick match tournament isn't the choice

These are the only pros and cons I can think of

Overall I like this change and I wish it was this way

Con: People who already kill all mechs in a match have a massive advantage in time now. I can get 1600 points in the time most F2P players could only get 400. This isn't really fair.

#

As seen here, I killed all mechs in the match in both rounds and ended before even on round with the four minute timer. Someone else could very well still be in the first round of another game and I'm already out there in a new game.

Just make 3 mins
4 mins is too long and game ussually ends at 3 min mark

4 minutes mode is good, less rushing and requires better team play to last till the finishing. Downside is if you get overpowered opponents, you will suffer for that whole 8 minutes, can't quit either

The 4 minute rounds are awesome. Pros ai have seen so far is that when hunting the best player on the other team it does not affect the limitation of points I can get due to time. Tournament ranking systems will enable this length to have better players have a severe advantage as @untold folio mentioned. I played three matches this morning and easily helped wipe out the entire other team each time before the end of the second round. Cons quick five minute rounds during a lunch break would suffer. 10/10 would like to see these rounds remain with the 4 min time

So.
Now its alot easier to kill all the mechs in the opposing team meaning you can get more points but, the fact that bots target players more is more obvious now

Pro: Assessing the battle space is less taxing, making it easier to perform clutch plays. Youre not in a hurry.
Cons: In most cases, the final 1 1/2 minute boils down to really long downtimes. Waiting for the final bots to spawn in that long, while the AI mechs camp around the spawn points aint fun at all.

Conclusion: 3 min rounds maybe?

Today played some matches in tournament most of the time I my team was reaching 20 kills in 2m30sec but rest of the 1m30s is just wasted in finding the last player

CONS:

  1. F2P or newer players will have a significant disadvantage against players who can slaughter entire lobbies. It will be almost impossible to catch up in the ranking. This becomes a bigger problem if you consider that most of the time, or sometimes, there is a huge gap of power between the players within a single bracket.
  2. It removes the challenge and specifically the urgency that we experience within the 2-minute format. In the shorter format, people with not so overpowered mechs are able to win somehow by playing better and making clutch plays that disable the stronger mechs before they can slaughter the bots or their entire team; hence, there is a higher level of skill and decision-making required to win. Now, we only need to spawn 1 or 2 overpowered mechs and kill the mechs until there is none left; hence, it becomes a mere slug fest or a battle of attrition for a better term, where the better hangar power has a bigger advantage because the punishment for making mistakes is significantly reduced (i.e. running out of time).
  3. 8 to 12 minutes per match is quite counteractive to those who chose this game because matches end fast. I think for a consolation, maybe 3 minutes per round would do the trick, or at least 2 mins and 30 seconds.
  4. Bots, often accompanied by people, just camp the spawn.

PROS:

  1. I guess its way more fun since you get to play longer, but then again look at the first con.
  2. Less opportunity for those who like to camp in places wherein they cannot be fired at. This is because weapons like the mortar racks take too much time to reload, which allows other players to find them and kill them; or better yet they are left alone to be slaughtered.
  3. More points for players, but again, consider the 1st con.

In summary, I think perhaps an increase in the time would be beneficial, provided that it is not too long. I think the current increase is too much.

Pros:
More tournament points
More fun
Easier to make a comeback
Changes up the pace of original tournament which was getting boring.

Cons:
Bot targeting more obvious
Takes up more time, which means less matches
Doesn’t apply to regular 5v5, so 5v5 remains kinda dull
Easier to lose all your mechs
Matches can become very unfair

Pros:
Longer gameplay is really good for certain, survivable mechs (Panther, Ares, Jugg, Stalker, Aegis, MD). They can take their time with a strategy rather than having to rush in and play peekaboo with control mechs.

Carbines, beam weapons, and other weapons that do damage over time become a little more viable, though are all overshadowed by the high fire-duty cycle of Disc Launchers.

Certainly better for "clans" who have coordinated teams that can play roles a little better.

Longer matches are, at least, interesting for change of pace, but it essentially becomes a true Deathmatch.

Cons:
Longer gameplay devolves into hunt the player. AI bots have a tendency to be a winning team or a losing team, then all of a sudden the losing real player is facing down many more bot enemies who, even when Stealth is activated, uncannily find the player.

Rocket Mortar camping.

9-13 minutes of gameplay for Tournaments is too long.

Players who aren't on Discord or unable to find friends to play with are a huge disadvantage. This should probably be a separate gamemode, not the regular, weekly competitive gamemode.

This would be great as a Clan Tournament gamemode, especially if you are automatically teamed up with people at a similar SP from your clan, or a Bot-free (or fewer) gamemode with a longer lobby to ensure good matchmaking.

Your player base is unused to playing this long, so rather than suffer waiting for the first round to end, many players bail after losing the first round to get a more favorable matchup rather than try to claw it back.

Pros:
-It's easier to gain points, but this would also apply to other players.
-With the extended time, you can try breaking your records of highest kills or highest damage.
-in a 1v1 player situation, your skills can really become a deciding factor.
-There's more time for you to do event tasks or daily tasks that require killing mechs, etc.
Cons:
-It depends on your teammates, if they rush out and get wiped, you can be in a 1 v many situation, or whichever team has the better AI bots (disc launcher jugg, arc torrent jugg, longarms zephyr, etc.) then they can help in cornering the other team, so basically depends on the RNG.
-You have to kill more mechs than your opponent, if your opponent kills more, then there will be a higher chance of you getting into a 1 v many situation.
-The time is now too long for people who don't have much time on their hands or for people who play for quick tournament matches.
-Depending on the map, rocket mortars can wipe the floor even with the extended time, maps like Hanging Gardens, Tunnel of Fate, and Two Arches.
-If it's a 1v2 and you're solo, you have a much higher chance of losing, having more time means we don't need to rush into battle, so they can just kill all the bots while being careful of you, that will inevitably also lead to a 1 v many situation, where you are bound to lose.
