Hibbertopterus

Hibbertopterus are friendly, curious creatures! They are quick to approach near anything, but even quicker to escape to the water if needed.

  • Hibbertopterus are Cathemeral.
  • Dimorphism:
  • Males tend to have bumps along their shell (scouleri subspecies)
  • Females will always have smooth shells, but occasionally have spines on their legs! (caledonicus or dewalquei subspecies)
    🥚 Nests can have up to ♾️ eggs per nest!🥚
  • Hibbertopterus are skittish when nesting.

*Hibbertopterus are quick to scatter when threats are nearby.

  • Preferred biomes: Anywhere water is present

Nani Skitters have no leader, with the members simply existing with one another. They stick together and move based on majority rules!

Early Life

Hatchlings

Hatchling Hibbers are born knowing how to swim and walk! They are active, friendly creatures, clicking and swaying at one another and any other species that come by.

Juveniles

Juveniles are just as friendly, but begin to grow into their adult curiosity. Checking out anything they find, but they are careful not to move to far from the safety of the water.

Adolescents

Adolescents have little difference behavior wise. The bonds between Hibbers are close, regardless of relation. These bonds begin to show in adolescence, as they begin to interact with other members of the group outside of those they are related to.

Nani Hibbers have no sense of personal space, for each other or any other species.
Nani Hibbers are easily startled, scattering at sudden movements or loud noises.

Nani Hibbers will be friendly towards anything that allows them to be!
Nani Hibbers are attracted to the scent of blood in the water. Injured creatures wading in the water may attract Hibbers. The Hibbers will clean them, healing them in the process!
