Anyone have any classical music suggestions for a winter solstice gala hosted in the feywild? Both of my players are big classical music buffs but I barely know any. I kinda want to avoid the more "christmassy" songs but otherwise I'm open to anything!

There's an album called Gregorian Winter: Mystic Medieval Chants that is full of songs that aren't what you'll hear on the radio. It's not just chants, it has instrumentation too.

#

If you're open to Christmas songs that aren't going to immediately tip off your players, the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir has an album called A New Joy: Orthodox Christmas that is fantastic. It is all choral, though.

#

(I sort of collect this stuff because I love to listen to chant and choral music in the wintertime)

Ooh, that'll be good!

I'll see if I can't dig up more.

Right now I'm listening to Snow Waltz by Ilya Beshevli.

#

Also, do your players prefer old classical music, or are they also into new classical music?

Not 100% sure honestly, one went to college for something related to music (can't remember :\) and the other's a cellist that seems to be able to pick out a lot of classical musicians whenever a song comes up.

#

I considered leaving some room in the playlist for them to add songs if they think of any, but I want to make sure they don't have to

Noted!

I'm going through an Apple Music playlist on the Classical app (recommended if you have an Apple Music subscription) called Classical Winter, so I might be able to scare up some good additions to the list. You mentioned all of "winter solstice" "gala" and "feywild", so party music on the weirder side?

Yes! Thank you so much, I really appreciate it ❤️ Want to make this memorable since the gala's host is one of the "orphan" PC's parents.

Peter Gynt Suite would work too, In the Halls of Mountain King, but it has a wintry feeling to me

Good one, though it's pretty recognizable.

#

I haven't come up with much more myself.

I'm not sure which tracks are instrumental only or if there's an instrumental only version of the opera
