At the Moment I dont use a mace or a axe only Longsword and Bows, It would be great if the game had better reason to have a diversity of melee weapons equipped by your settlers. Maybe different bonuses from different weapons?

There are different bonuses to different weapons when you look at the stats.
Its being divided in
raw damage (for the fleshy parts);
armor damage (give it a whack and armor goes poof);
and building damage (who scratches my door?!).

Jokes aside, maces do quite a bit of armor damage, but due to me mostly using ranged defense it is not all that important.
Though should Plate armor be a bit reworked and let its wearer truly become the medieval tank that knight in full plate actually were... that could make this different (and interesting)

If you go into the code, youll see quite a few intracacies hidden there. When looking at a weapon on the UI in game there isnt much. A good suggestion would be to reveal more of these stats outside of DPS.

For instance, every weapon has a ranged/melee cover basically meaning their chance to block. This is additive to a shield, so you can make a super tanky character. Conversely you can have a super quick dagger wielder.

Nice! Is there a compiled list of all the stats outside of the json?

Or use a rondel dagger to penetrate the armour (it is after al an ap weapon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7iU3q23jGX0)
Though I would like to be able to craft daggers and equip them in place of a shield as a side arm for archers and settlers that I don't use in active combat.

Medieval anti armour dagger ? Really? Yes really. That is exactly what rondel daggers were for, so I set out to make and test one to find out what they really did. For as long as I remember I have loved the A726 Rondel dagger in the Wallace Collection. It is a beautiful and iconic dagger and an absolute favourite of mine, so it became the f...

I think that would be an amazing idea to have a sub weapon slot for settlers. maybe it will count against weight but having an archer that can pull out a sword or a dagger to defend against melee would be great and a good reason to actually train melee with the archer.

It might just be my bad playskill on the game, but I feel like after this latest fire update with the updates to combat, melee is more necessary. I'd like to see even more reason to use melee. raiders that bring ladders to scale walls and the like might be neat, even if it's in larger battles that dont happen all the time.

Also I want to see the tech tree expanded for equipment. let me make the knightly swords after I researched Swords IV, better Armors, let me unlock new clothing like hoods with Tailoring II or III. maybe even allow me to make cloaks with a higher tailor skill that helps protect more against cold.

Gentle reminder that arrowheads exist specifically to defeat plate:
(I can't remember the name and this was the only picture I could find)

And also for chainmail (Bodkin Arrows)

It is an anti armor dagger, though its used to either defeat a toppled enemy and more importantly to target the weak points as indeed they state that the steel plate that is used for the demo is not as thick as some plate armor (chest piece) could get.

It does still have an impressive armor penetrating capability and because it doesn't seem that the game will work with a "toppled" status I think 't would be a way to portray its targeted use in the game.
