#we should be able to assign kings queens etc royalty roles

The royalty would probably not do unskilled labor and they would need servants to do the work.
Maybe a guard rol would fit amazing. Having some guards patrolling the city always ready for killing wild furious animals or maybe add thieves that appear, doesnt have a pop up and they steal goods.
When the prisoner update drops, there should be a sheriff or prison guard to keep the prisoners secure.
The guard could also be that role.
on top of that your people should gain bonuses towards stats based on the rulers personality. if they are a brawler all people should get a small melee bonus n such. so if u have a smart leader with intellect personality traits all people get intellect bonus, same with other stats.
A lord / king / ruler would make so much sense in a medieval š°
Whatās the point of having a caste if there is no lord the manor around
i'd rather see this in a broader context of settlement specialization and ranking. say, you need a restitution chapel (small size, basic altar, simple deco, maybe lectern) and rank I chaplain, and you can declare your settlement a monastery(lvl 1). this in turn unlocks bigger altar, better restitution deco, ability to lvl up chaplain, and gives better mood boost to all pops when praying, and maybe a few more buffs. you need to make a bigger chapel, and. say, a scriptorium (library), to upgrade your settlement to monastery(lvl2) for even better boosts, more building/furniture unlocks, and higher chaplain rank. finally, you need, say, a hospital and a huge church to unlock monastery(lvl 3), for some pretty significant prayer mood boosts, increase to trader visits, decrease to hostile raids and stuff, and maybe a boost to research.
something analogous could be done for say a farming hamlet/village/town, or a crafting village/town/city, or a fort. fort would gradually progress to a castle, and its dedicated role would be a noble that ranks up
or maybe just start with a noble manor as a separate thing, and you rank up by improving your manor's output or sth like that
but it would be a really fun progression system, and an excellent source for improved unlocks
eg. a monastery would be able to unlock better hospital beds or research stations, a farming community could have better farming zones, a crafting community a more efficient crafting stations etc
this would also give you a reason to actively trade with other settlements, as you could buy some furniture and stuff from settlements of different specialisations
Fam what monasteryās you talking about??? This is a suggestion to assign someone the King or Queen title
Sure, but it could be a whole expanded thing. Way more likely than just adding one type of title. Also, I don't think you should ever go higher than baron. Anything above makes no historical sense in the setting
So your talking about settlement expansion and access to technology based on their settlement rank
Do I got it right or am i still miles away š¤£
Going along with the marriage idea, if a settler married the lord or lady of the castle, they would become a lord or lady too.
Technically yes
And their offspringās (sadly childrenās are out of question as the developer mentioned) shall be lords as well
And they could boost the job same as working themselves ( not working but the other settlers doing that job to have a production boost to make up for the lords
If thatās the problem as what to do with them ā¦.not to worry , thereās always something that they can do, lead raid parties or lead trade caravans
The recent Monday Talk explained the Goal based skill enhancements. This idea could be to assign an overall Goal to your settlement - fort/castle, farming, mining/industry, monastery/religious. I like it.
This could be either a setup choice, like valley vs. mountain, but better to be a choice made during gameplay (and maybe able to be changed).
As rejndzer87 said, the 'ruler' role could change based off this settlement goal: castle = Lord/Lady, monastery= Abbott/high lvl chaplain, farm or mine = sheriff/?? (or maybe no such role?)
Donāt have a twitter account so canāt read the recent talks š
Can you please send me over a short brief?
