Oxen, asses and horses should be able to haul resources to specific spots, an NPC could control the animal and load up lots of wood or food from farms and transport it to a single spot

We could build in the carpenter post some wagons for the horses and asses so they can carry a lot more of resources!

Oxen plowed the fields, so maybe they could half-way finish a planting job (they can't plant the seed) or some measure of finishing. Dogs and cats could also raise settlers happiness.

I agree with this. I always found it odd how the animals just haul everything on their own. 😅

And if we get oxen, I would actually like to use them to improve crop yields. Since we don't need one to create plots. Instead, plowing the fields before planting could make the resulting crops hardier and less prone to disease or something.

Or just quicker in the gardening/preparation stage if using oxen.

I'd prefer hail and/or disease resistance tbh.

Ploughs should need a person driving them, but of course have oxen to pull them. I like the idea of them speeding up the initial process, for sure.
