Giving Players the Option to somehow get their Hands on Blueprints of currently non craftable Weapons and Items could be cool.
It seems odd that we can craft Plate Armor and Longswords but do not know how to craft Metal Spears or Warbows.
Also allowing us learn how to craft Items from different Materials like Bone would be cool.
Sending People to Settlements and learning/buying Blueprints from other Factions would give Variety in Items without having to strip them from fallen Enemies after a Raid.
Only being able to craft 2 Types of Bows from 1 Type of Material is boring seeing that Enemies have Items made from different Material.

would be better if settlers with the smith character traits could have the ability to craft a weapon or armor peice that isn't avalible normaly
Yes I like it. I've been wondering why a smith can craft plate armour but is limited to wooden shields. (I haven't found if or when the ability to craft iron or steel shields appears).
I’d love something like this.
Expanding on your idea, different wood should affect bow quality/stats. Need some Yew trees!
