I'm like 90% sure that this is not stick drift that is caused by dust or whatever getting into the gap between the stick and main controller shell, so would cleaning it or replacing the stick even do anything?

yep that's stick drift. It happens because overtime the metal contacts dig into the resistive pad creating grooves overtime. This is why hall-effect joysticks are so good, they dont have this problem bc they work with magnets

but yeah, only solution I've found to fully make it go away is to replace the stick, which is about 10 dollars and 2 hours of work, but it can be hard for some. i highly suggest fix my oculus for tutorials
