The alarm doesn't seem to go off until I take out my PDA and look at it.
It happens every time.

what if you tap the silence button once, then wait for the next tide? luckily you get more advanced warnign by the glowing orbs that start appearing

To silence the PDA, you should click a small button with speaker on bottom right

I think the alarm is probably on.
I start to hear the wind and the world starts to go black and white, so I take out my PDA, and suddenly the alarm starts ringing. By that time there are only 2-3 minutes left.
I'll try to see if I can record this problem.

I recorded it. There were just over two hours until the tide, but the alarm didn't go off until I pulled out my PDA.

In my several attempts, I found that sometimes the alarm would not go off when I took out the PDA, but then I had to turn it off and back on again to get it to go off.
